This summer, the much-anticipated anime “Gachiakuta” finally graced our screens as one of the most highly anticipated new series of the season. Now, it’s taking things up a notch with the unveiling of both its opening and ending theme songs. The original manga by Kei Urana has been serialized in Kodansha’s Weekly Shonen Magazine since 2022, and is highly respected as one of the latest generation of series that fans have eagerly awaited to become an anime. Following a successful premiere that resonated with viewers, the anime is now set to unfold its debut season’s narrative.
I’m thrilled to share that the second episode of Gachiakuta is out now, and it delves straight into Rudo’s ongoing journey within the enigmatic realm of The Pit! The first episode skipped the typical opening and closing sequences to establish a solid foundation for future events. Consequently, it wasn’t until Episode 2 that viewers were treated to the new opening theme “HUGs” by Paledusk and the closing theme “TOMOSHIBI” by DUSTCELL. For those eager fans who can’t get enough of these catchy tunes, I’ve included the creditless versions of both themes in the videos below! Enjoy!
How to Watch Gachiakuta
The anime series “Gachiakuta” is now airing its fresh episodes as part of the current Summer 2025 schedule. You can exclusively watch these episodes on Crunchyroll when they premiere. An English dubbed version of the show is being produced, and it will be made available at a later time. Fumihiko Suganama is directing the new “Gachiakuta” anime for studio Bones, with Hiroshi Seko writing the scripts, Satoshi Ishino handling character designs and serving as the chief animation director, and Taku Iwasaki composing the music. With the new season underway, things can only get better from here!
The series “Gachiakuta” has confirmed that its first season will span across two consecutive blocks, known as “cours,” before concluding. Although the exact date or total number of episodes hasn’t been disclosed yet, this implies that the show will be aired throughout both the Summer and Fall 2025 anime seasons. Fans can look forward to following the series as new episodes are released throughout the year, as it seems “Gachiakuta” is here to stay for quite some time.
What Is Gachiakuta About?
Kodansha USA has obtained the rights for an English translation of the original manga “Gachiakuta”, which is now available in bookstores or digitally through Kodansha’s K-Manga service. If you’re curious about it before the anime starts adapting its storyline, this might be a good opportunity to check it out. On the other hand, Crunchyroll has started to give us hints about what we can expect from “Gachiakuta”. Essentially, it revolves around a character named Rudo who resides in a floating town’s slums, where the poor struggle under the oppression of the rich, carelessly discarding their waste into the abyss.
The storyline progresses by stating, “One day, he is unfairly charged with murder, leading to a harsh sentence – banishment to the outskirts, alongside the unwanted. Beneath this dumping ground, remnants of humanity have spawned ferocious creatures. If Rudo intends to uncover the truth and exact revenge on those who sent him to Hell, he must learn a new ability and join the Cleaners, a team that fights the colossal monsters from the Pit!
