It’s strange to remember that twelve years ago, Warner Bros. was creating a completely separate DC movie universe. This week, Gal Gadot, a major star from that universe, marked the anniversary by sharing some previously unseen footage. Gadot first appeared as Wonder Woman in Batman v Superman: Dawn of Justice, and even though her role was relatively small compared to Batman and Superman, she made a strong impression. Now, she’s released the original test footage of her as Wonder Woman, alongside Ben Affleck.
Gal Gadot shared that Zack Snyder sent her the footage from her screen test, and she was seeing it for the first time. The test shows Bruce Wayne and Wonder Woman (Diana Prince) meeting again after eight years. Diana is noticeably upset to see Bruce, reminding him that she previously warned him not to contact her, even threatening him if he did.
Gal Gadot celebrated the twelfth anniversary of being cast as Wonder Woman, calling it a life-changing experience. She shared a fun memory from her audition process – a camera test she did with Ben Affleck for Batman v Superman. She mentioned she recently re-watched it!

Gal Gadot celebrated twelve years since being cast as Wonder Woman on X (formerly Twitter). She described the experience as an incredible journey with a character she deeply loves, and shared a behind-the-scenes camera test with fans. She thanked director Zack Snyder for giving her the opportunity to play Diana Prince and for sharing the test footage with her.
Gal Gadot’s Wonder Woman was a highlight of the previous DC Universe, and despite the mixed reception to the second film, fans were eager to see a third installment directed by Patty Jenkins and starring Gadot. However, those plans were cancelled when James Gunn and Peter Safran took over and decided to reboot the DC movie universe with a completely new direction and cast, including recasting Superman and other core heroes.
So far, David Corenswet is the only confirmed Superman for the new DC Universe, having appeared earlier this year. While plans for new Batman and Wonder Woman movies are still developing and casting hasn’t begun, both projects are moving forward. Good news for Wonder Woman fans: Ana Nogueira, who wrote the script for the upcoming Supergirl movie (coming next year), is also writing the new Wonder Woman film, indicating progress on that front.
We don’t yet know exactly what the next Wonder Woman movie will be like, but based on the recent Superman film, it’ll likely be more lighthearted and embrace imaginative, fantastical ideas. Superman drew heavily from the older, more whimsical stories of the character, and it wouldn’t be a surprise if Wonder Woman followed a similar path, even though the two heroes are quite different.
