Game Pass Might Get “Pick Your Own Plan” Options – Rumor

Microsoft recently lowered the prices for all Game Pass subscriptions, and it seems they have further plans to improve the service. According to industry insider Jez Corden, Microsoft is considering letting subscribers create customized plans, choosing only the benefits they want. While Microsoft hasn’t officially confirmed this, it would allow users to tailor their subscription to their specific needs.

Xbox Game Pass might soon let you customize your subscription. Instead of one fixed plan, you could choose exactly what you want included, like removing Xbox Cloud Gaming or Fortnite Crew to lower the monthly cost. You could then add other options instead, such as day-one access to Xbox games, or subscriptions to services like World of Warcraft or Minecraft Realms. Rumors also suggest possibilities like bundling in Netflix or finally getting a Game Pass Family Plan. Microsoft has been testing these ideas internally, using codenames like ‘Duet’ and ‘Triton’.

While Game Pass subscriptions are now cheaper, new Call of Duty games won’t be available on the service when they first launch. Instead, Call of Duty titles will be added to Game Pass about a year after they’re released, likely coinciding with the launch of the next game in the series.

Starting this year, new Call of Duty games won’t be available on Game Pass Ultimate or PC Game Pass when they’re first released. Instead, they’ll be added to the service about a year later, during the holiday season. However, Call of Duty games that are already on Game Pass will remain available to play.

Sources say Microsoft made this decision because releasing Call of Duty: Black Ops 7 on Game Pass immediately led to significant revenue losses. The company apparently has a system where profits from Game Pass are redistributed to the studios that created the games, and this system is used to offset those losses. The price increases planned for October 2025 are also linked to the lower sales of Call of Duty caused by its availability on Game Pass.

Recent reports suggest the upcoming subscription service will have different tiers. Cloud gaming will still be available, but likely with a monthly time limit, similar to Nvidia GeForce Now’s 100-hour cap. The ‘Triton’ tier is expected to focus solely on games made by Xbox Game Studios teams – meaning only first-party titles will be included.
