Fans have been eagerly awaiting The Expanse: Osiris Reborn, the new sci-fi action RPG from Owlcat Games based on the popular book and TV series. Good news for those who pre-ordered the Miller’s Pack or Collector’s Edition – the closed beta is available now on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC. A new trailer features game design leads Leonid Rastorguev and Grigory Ponomarev explaining all the details.
This beta version features a single mission where you play as J, returning to the Pinkwater 4 space station after the disaster on Eros. Though you can head directly to your commanding officer, the station is filled with people to talk to, like Larry, who works at dispatch, and Luciana, a shopkeeper. But be warned: when your ship, the Protogen, forcefully docks, chaos immediately erupts.
During the beta, you can choose to play as either an Officer or a Hacker, each with their own special abilities. The main difference is how you use active skills – they’re accessed through gadgets, and there are plenty to experiment with. You can customize these gadgets to unlock new advantages, and combining them with other equipment lets you create powerful character builds. You’ll need to be strategic, as the Protogen mercenaries are incredibly tough. Remember to use cover, but don’t stay in one place for too long, as it can be damaged and destroyed.
Look for The Expanse: Osiris Reborn to arrive in Spring 2027 on the platforms listed. We’ll share more details – including information about the beta test – in the months ahead, so keep an eye out for updates.
