The BBC has offered a sneak peek at “Better Later,” the new comedy series from one of the creators of “Gavin & Stacey,” Ruth Jones. They’ve also announced that production on the show is now underway.
The new comedy, starring and co-written by Jones and her former “Stella” co-star Steve Speirs, tells the story of two people who meet at a clinic for knee injuries and find an unexpected friendship.
Jones plays Shelley Anne, a 55-year-old environmental health officer navigating a difficult divorce. Speirs portrays Clive, a 60-year-old retired teacher who is a widower.
The initial photo shows actors Jones and Spiers filming on location. Jones is holding a clapperboard in front of a shop in Brynfach, the town where the show takes place.
Filming is taking place in and around South Wales including the Brecon Beacons.

Jones explained that the show feels like a culmination of 35 years of work, going back to when he first encountered Steve.
She explained that they weren’t writing slowly, but had simply been busy with other projects. She also expressed her excitement about filming with him again.
Speirs continued, saying it had been a while since he and Ruth had worked together. He joked that Ruth always makes him laugh, and he tends to giggle a lot, so filming might take a while.
Transmission details will be announced at a later date.
