Ruth Jones, known for her role in Gavin & Stacey and as one of the show’s creators, will soon appear in Run Away, a new thriller by Harlan Coben.
As everyone eagerly anticipates New Year’s Day and the start of a new TV series to watch all at once, actress Jones has shared a few hints about what she’s working on next – including a project with James Corden, known for ‘Gavin & Stacey’.
I’m currently working on a new project set in Wales with my longtime friend and colleague, Steve Speirs. We actually wrote it together! We’ll be filming this one before we start work on the project with James.
I’m currently working with both James and Steve on separate but related projects. It’s going really well – we have clear plans for each, and I’m fortunate to have strong production teams supporting both efforts.
News surfaced in September that Jones and Corden are teaming up for a new TV show. The 10-episode series will feature the duo alongside a cast of British actors.

I was really excited to hear the BBC announced a new project from Gareth Jones and the incredibly talented actor and writer, Speirs, just recently. It’s a six-part series they’re both co-writing and starring in, and from what I understand, it’s going to be a really honest look at what relationships are like as you get older – all the good stuff and the tough parts.
The story follows the heartwarming and funny friendship between Clive, a 60-year-old retired teacher who’s lost his wife, and Shelley-Ann, a 55-year-old environmental officer navigating a difficult divorce. They meet while both recovering from knee injuries at a clinic.
When the series was officially ordered in October, Jones expressed his excitement in a statement, saying he was thankful to the BBC for the opportunity. He added that he’s long been friends with Steve and always enjoys collaborating with him, and he’s eager for the project to begin.
Speirs expressed gratitude to the BBC for supporting their new show, and shared his excitement about collaborating with Ruth again after three decades of working together.
Although details like release dates, cast members, and titles are still unknown for those projects, fans of Jones can look forward to her next role in the Netflix series, Run Away, where she’ll be playing a more serious character.
