Don’t worry if you thought Microsoft skipped The Game Awards! They’ll be showcasing games next month with a Developer_Direct event featuring Playground Games and others. Plus, The Coalition just confirmed that Gears of War: E-Day is still on track to launch next year.
Okay, so they just dropped a tweet saying “Emergence begins” and “2026” – which is super cryptic, but awesome! Hopefully, we’ll get more details at the Nintendo Direct next month. This new game, E-Day, is a prequel to the Gears series, and it’s the first main game we’ve gotten since Gears 5 back in 2019. It’s set right when the Locust are first attacking Sera. And get this – we get to play as Marcus Fenix and Dom Santiago again, with the original actors! It’s going to cover the first few days of the battle in the city of Kalona, and I’m already hyped!
Gears of War: E-Day will be a return to the series’ original horror feel, featuring a straightforward story campaign, after later games focused more on action. It’s also expected to include multiplayer, something the original Halo: Combat Evolved didn’t have. It’s currently unknown if the game will be released on PlayStation 5 at the same time as its release on Xbox Series X/S and PC.
Emergence Begins. 2026.
