Gears of War: E-Day Supports 60 FPS With Hardware Ray Tracing in Campaign, 120 FPS in Multiplayer

Last year, The Coalition promised Gears of War: E-Day would look incredible, and seeing it in action is truly impressive. The game features incredibly detailed destruction – buildings can completely collapse – along with realistic lighting effects, support for HDR10, and ultra-high-definition textures. It’s a lot to process, especially considering the developers completely rebuilt the game from the ground up.

The game runs smoothly, consistently hitting 60 frames per second in the campaign, even with ray tracing turned on. Multiplayer can reach an impressive 120 FPS, likely focused on providing a competitive edge. The developers have also paid incredible attention to detail – they say Marcus’s eyelashes have more detail now than his entire model did in the original Gears of War on the Xbox 360.

Okay, so the gore in this game is seriously next level now. I mean, we’re talking chunks of enemies flying off with every hit, and even limbs getting completely ripped off – especially if you hit them with something like the Gnasher. It’s brutal, but awesome! They’ve also added some cool new weapons. The Incinerator looks like it’s going to be my new go-to; those burning rounds are insane. And that new grenade launcher? Rapid fire and delayed explosions? Yeah, that’s gonna be messy… in a good way, of course.

Gears of War: E-Day will be available starting October 6th on Xbox Series X/S and PC. This time, it’s only available on Xbox consoles, unlike last year’s version, but it will be included with Xbox Game Pass from the beginning.
