Gen V Season 2 Ending Explained & How It Sets Up The Boys Season 5

Look, I get it – jumping into a huge franchise like the MCU can be overwhelming. They focus on the movies, but then there are all those TV shows too, and sometimes key stuff happens there. It can be exhausting just trying to keep up, and honestly, not everything is great. But I’m really excited about what Amazon is doing with The Boys. They’re expanding the universe with spin-offs, which is awesome, and the biggest thing is, the team behind it – Eric Kripke and everyone – hasn’t given us anything less than amazing so far. I feel confident they’ll keep the quality high!

The second season of Gen V is back, continuing the story at Godolkin University and delivering plenty of shocking twists. The season finale dramatically changes things, as the main characters face off against a dangerous villain determined to eliminate those with weak powers. Through this conflict, they gain self-awareness and pave the way for the final season of The Boys, promising an explosive conclusion.

Gen V Season 2 Leaves Its Villains Worse Than It Found Them

All season, I’ve been following Marie and her friends as they tried to figure out how to beat Cipher, the new dean at God U. It’s seriously messed up that he can control Supes without even having Compound V – it made him a really unpredictable enemy. We thought the key was healing the old man Cipher was always dragging around, believing it was actually Thomas Godolkin. Turns out we were right! Marie managed to heal his burns, hoping he’d help us fight back. But then, the biggest twist – Godolkin revealed he was Cipher all along, and things went completely insane. He started a killing spree right on campus, and even announced a new seminar to, as he put it, ‘cull the herd,’ despite Sister Sage begging him not to. It was a total disaster.

In the final showdown, Marie discovers Godolkin’s scheme and, with her friends, goes to stop him. However, he’s too powerful for her alone. Luckily, Polarity, who Sister Sage rescues, arrives and temporarily disables Godolkin, allowing Marie to defeat him. They escape the campus together before Vought can intervene. With Godolkin defeated, Sister Sage’s carefully laid plans are starting to unravel. She’s also seemingly lost Homelander’s support, as she ignores his attempt to contact her after learning about the Godolkin situation. While disagreements within The Seven are common, now is a particularly bad time, as the heroes are beginning to gain an advantage.

The Resistance Is Ready to Make Its Big Move

In the final moments of Gen V Season 2, Marie and her friends desperately search for Stand Edgar’s hidden base, but they’re lost without directions. As the lights begin to flicker, they brace for another battle, only to be relieved it’s just Starlight. She congratulates them on their efforts at school, but their moment of praise is cut short when A-Train rushes up, warning them they’re in a vulnerable location. The young heroes are stunned to be face-to-face with two famous Supes and thrilled when offered a spot in the resistance.

Things are starting to fall into place on Gen V. It’s been revealed that Starlight and A-Train are teaming up to oppose Homelander and attempt to rescue The Boys from prison. How Marie, Jordan Li, and the others will contribute to this effort is still unknown, but having more powerful heroes on their side is definitely a good thing. Marie might even face off against Homelander directly, as she and Homelander are the only two Supes created through Project Odessa. With all of this in motion, creator Eric Kripke is setting the stage for what promises to be a spectacular final season of The Boys.

Gen V Season 2 is streaming on Prime Video.
