Okay, so this is a bummer for anyone playing Ghost of Yotei. The game’s been doing really well since it came out last fall, and Sucker Punch has been awesome with updates, especially the Ghost of Yotei: Legends mode which let you play co-op with friends. But now they’ve announced they’re finished adding new stuff to Legends, which is a bit of a letdown considering how new the game still is. I was hoping for more content, but it sounds like that’s not happening for now.
Darren Bridges, lead designer for Ghost of Tsushima: Legends, recently announced on the PlayStation Blog that the game will no longer receive updates. Although a new Raid mode was added in early April, featuring some of the game’s toughest bosses, Sucker Punch Productions is now focusing on other projects and won’t be adding any further content to Legends.
According to Bridges, the recent ‘Raid’ update is the last big planned update for Legends. It concludes the storyline for the Yōtei Six within that game mode. The team has been thrilled to see players enjoying it and appreciates their continued support. It’s been a fantastic experience for everyone involved.
The recent Raid in Ghost of Yotei: Legends concludes the story Sucker Punch intended for this mode, but it’s still unexpected how quickly the developer is moving on. Legends was released in March and received only one month of updates before Sucker Punch stopped adding to it. It seems this was always the plan, which is surprising considering the original Ghost of Tsushima: Legends received support for a much longer time.
It’s currently unclear if this will be the last major update for Ghost of Yotei. Shortly after the game launched in 2025, Sucker Punch director Jason Connell said the studio was willing to create downloadable content for Yotei. We don’t know if new story content is being developed, but hopefully we’ll have an official answer soon – either way – in the coming weeks or months.
