Sucker Punch Productions’ Ghost of Yōtei is now available, and the recent trailer showcasing its awards is definitely worth watching. Similar to Ghost of Tsushima, it includes Kurosawa Mode, which offers a black and white aesthetic with film grain and Japanese voice acting (complete with subtitles). But there’s more – you can also choose Watanabe Mode.
What does this mode bring to the table? It offers calming, low-fidelity music as you explore Ezo, transforming Atsu’s intense desire for revenge into a much more atmospheric experience. The inspiration for this mode comes from director Shinichirō Watanabe’s Samurai Champloo, a highly praised anime known for its distinctive visual style and music.
Some people might see it as just a novelty, but it’s a really good way to relax if you need to unwind. If you’re looking for a more intense and violent experience, there’s Miike Mode, named after film director Takashi Miike (13 Assassins).
Ghost of Yōtei can be purchased for $69.99 on PS5. You can read our review to find out more about the game, including details on its engaging battles, beautiful world, and well-developed characters.
