God of War Laufey Announced by PlayStation With Extensive First Look

PlayStation officially announced a new God of War game, called God of War Laufey, during today’s State of Play presentation. Unlike previous games where Kratos was the main character, this installment will focus on the story of his late wife, Faye.

The recently unveiled God of War Laufey explores Faye’s journey through the afterlife following her death in God of War (2018). Gameplay appears to be a return to the style of classic God of War games, bringing back jumping and aerial combat. The story involves Faye facing conflicts with gods from Asian and Egyptian mythology.

You can get a look at the first trailer for God of War Laufey for yourself right here:

The game follows Laufey, known as Faye, a skilled warrior and Kratos’s wife, as she embarks on a new journey after death. Instead of finding peace, Faye awakens in an unfamiliar realm and discovers that the safeguards she established to protect Kratos and Atreus are failing. To save her family, she must battle through the dangerous afterlife – a place called the Everywhen – where powerful and merciless gods from various myths compete for dominance and wield potent magic. Players will utilize Faye’s agility, precision, and unwavering combat style to defeat formidable enemies with swift and lethal attacks.

Santa Monica Studio is working on a remake of the original God of War, now referred to as God of War Laufey. This is the second project in a planned series of remakes for the first three God of War games. The developer has indicated that the full God of War Trilogy Remake is still a ways off, and may not be released until the next generation of consoles – possibly the PS6.

Currently, there’s no confirmed release date for God of War Laufey. It’s been announced for PlayStation 5, and we’ll share any new information about its release here on ComicBook as soon as it’s available.
