You may have heard whispers about a remastered version of the original God of War Trilogy. Well, Sony Santa Monica has revealed something even bigger: a complete remake of all three games is currently in development! The announcement trailer shows Kratos, as always, powerfully confronting his father, Zeus.
Details are scarce, but the project is in the very early stages of development. The developer says it will be some time before they can share more, though the next update will likely be significant. The news came from TC Carson, who originally voiced Kratos in the Greek-era games, suggesting he might be involved in recording new lines.
The original God of War game launched in 2005 for the PlayStation 2 and quickly became incredibly popular. It earned widespread praise from critics and sold over 4.6 million copies. Its sequel, God of War 2, followed in 2007 for the PS2, receiving even greater acclaim and selling 4.24 million copies in less time.
The final game in the original trilogy, God of War 3, came out in 2010 for the PS3 and was a hit with players, though some still favored the previous installment. Now, fans are eager to see how its intense action and grand story will be reimagined for the PS5 in the remake.
