According to Jason Schreier from Bloomberg, the next project being led by God of War director Cory Barlog at Santa Monica Studio is not a brand new story as many had speculated. Instead, it appears to be set in an already established universe, although the specifics about its nature haven’t been revealed yet. Moreover, Schreier clarified that this game does not fall under the science fiction genre, contrary to what fans have been expecting for some time now.
