Good news! ARC Raiders is now Steam Deck Verified after the Proton 10 release — one of 2025’s biggest multiplayer games is now in the palms of your hands

Less than a month after its late October release, the popular new game ARC Raiders – created by the team behind The Finals – is now confirmed to work well with the Steam Deck. Valve has officially verified it, meaning it’s supported on their handheld gaming device.

As an analyst, I’ve been tracking the Steam Deck’s compatibility, and the recent verification improvements aren’t due to game-specific patches. Instead, they’re a direct result of Proton 10, the latest update to the compatibility layer. Proton allows a huge number of Windows games to run smoothly on SteamOS, which is the operating system powering the Deck. This update is what’s really making the difference.

The latest Proton update, version 10.0-3, is now available and adds support for new games like The Crew Motorfest. It also improves performance in games already compatible with the Steam Deck. Interestingly, even though it wasn’t officially announced, the update also enables support for ARC Raiders on the Steam Deck.

Before, Steam Deck players needed a fan-made version of Proton, called Proton GE, to play ARC Raiders well. Now, the game should work perfectly with the standard, official version of Proton.

It’s good news that ARC Raiders now officially supports the Steam Deck. The game is expected to be one of the biggest multiplayer releases of 2025 and a top seller overall. Just over a week ago, the developers shared that over 4 million copies have been sold and that the game has seen over 700,000 players online at the same time on Xbox Series X|S, PC, and PlayStation 5.

While it might not sell as much as Battlefield 6, which is expected to be the best-selling game of 2025, this game has still been incredibly successful. It’s guaranteed to be one of the year’s biggest earners, especially since it’s been a top seller on Steam for weeks. It’s likely doing very well on consoles too, although exact sales figures aren’t available.

Lots of players either already have a Steam Deck, or they’ve been waiting for the game to be verified before buying it. Now that it is, they can finally play this popular shooter on the go – or, let’s be honest, probably in bed, like many Steam Deck owners do.

ARC Raiders costs $39.99 on all platforms, but you can find it on sale now at Loaded. The standard PC version is currently $34.99, and the Deluxe Edition for PC is $50.19 (normally $59.99). The Xbox version is also discounted to $56.79 at Loaded.
