Video games and anime have always been a great combination, with many games being adapted from anime and vice versa. Sometimes, games even look like they were originally anime, creating entirely new worlds. Hoyoverse, the company behind games like Wuthering Waves, Genshin Impact, Zenless Zone Zero, and Honkai: Star Rail, is a prime example of this. Sadly, one popular game inspired by anime has recently been removed from Google Play for violating their terms of service.
At first glance, Doki Doki Literature Club seems like a cheerful, everyday anime game, but it’s actually a disturbing psychological horror experience. The game’s creator, Team Salvato, recently announced that Google has removed it from the Google Play Store. Google stated the removal was due to the game’s portrayal of sensitive topics, which violated their policies. Fortunately, even though it’s no longer available on Google Play, there are still many other ways to play Doki Doki Literature Club.
Doki Doki Lives
I’m so glad there are still plenty of ways to experience Doki Doki Literature Club! The creators, Team Salvato, are making sure everyone can find a version for their device – it’s available on iOS, Nintendo Switch, PlayStation, and more. They’re still working hard to get it back on the Google Play Store, but they’re also exploring other ways to get it into the hands of Android users. They put a lot of effort into bringing DDLC to Android, and they’ve been thrilled by all the support from fans there over the last few months!
Originally released in 2017, Doki Doki Literature Club gained popularity because it was free to play. Although it hasn’t been adapted into an anime, its unique visual style and complex story would translate well to the animated format. While a direct sequel isn’t currently planned, the game’s developer, Salvato, has continued to expand and enrich the game since its initial release.
Although the free game is no longer available on the Google Play Store, the developers, Team Salvato, are working to bring it back. They’ve reassured fans of Doki Doki Literature Club that they’re trying to get it reinstated, even though it’s currently available on other platforms.
