THQ Nordic and Alkimia Interactive have revealed the release date for the Gothic 1 Remake: it will launch on June 5, 2026, as shown in a new trailer released today.
Soon, you’ll be able to revisit the challenging world of Myrtana and play the very first game in this beloved RPG series, just as we celebrate its 25th anniversary.
Gothic 1 Remake Gets June Release Date
According to a recent announcement accompanying the release date trailer, the main goal of the Gothic 1 Remake is to recapture the unique and immersive experience of the original game. This includes its distinctive atmosphere, realistic open world, mature themes, challenging gameplay, and the feeling of playing as an anonymous, unremarkable character – all the elements that made Gothic a beloved classic 25 years ago.
The team at Alkimia Interactive painstakingly recreated the original Valley of Mines, focusing on even the smallest details. From the infamous meatbug ragout served by Snaf, to the distinctive cries of scavengers and even pesky Mud creatures, everything has been carefully restored to how players remember it.
When the team started working on Gothic 1 Remake, their main goal was to bring the original RPG back to life, but with some improvements. The original game was famous for being really tough, especially the combat, so they wanted to update that to make it more modern and enjoyable without losing what made it special.
While the game is still enjoyable after all this time, new players might find its controls and sudden difficulty increases frustrating.
I’m really excited for this remake! It’s sticking pretty close to the original story, and the developers, Alkimia Interactive, are clearly trying to recapture that same feeling as the first game. We’re just a few months away from playing as the Nameless Hero again, and I can’t wait to see if they’ve pulled it off!
The highly anticipated remake of Gothic 1 will launch on June 5, 2026, for PC, PlayStation 5, and Xbox Series X/S. You can now pre-order both the standard and collector’s editions from the THQ Nordic store.
