ITV have finally revealed when we can expect Grantchester season 10 to land on our screens.
The next-to-last episode of the mystery series, featuring Robson Green and Rishi Nair as DI Geordie Keating and Reverend Alphy Kottaram, will air on ITV1 on Wednesday, January 7th and Thursday, January 8th at 9pm.
Although season 10 hasn’t come out in the UK yet, it first aired on PBS Masterpiece in the US in July.
After Reverend Will Davenport left in series nine, season ten focuses on Geordie and Alphy strengthening their partnership while investigating a mysterious death that occurs during Easter celebrations.
I’ve been following the Grantchester mysteries for a while now, and what really draws me in isn’t just the beautiful scenery. It’s the relationship between DI Geordie Keating, played by Robson Green, and Reverend Alphy Kottaram, portrayed by Rishi Nair. They make a fantastic crime-solving team, but this season, it looks like they’re both facing some serious personal challenges – family issues, hidden secrets… and they’ll need to lean on each other to get through it all. It’s shaping up to be a really compelling season, focusing on their bond as much as the mysteries themselves.
This season, Alphy is finally feeling settled and like he belongs, but he’s also facing hidden secrets from his past. He’ll have to decide if he can truly open up to others, or if he needs to understand himself better first.
Joining Green and Nair in season 10 are familiar faces from the previous season: Al Weaver, Tessa Peake-Jones, Kacey Ainsworth, Oliver Dimsdale, Nick Brimble, Bradley Hall, and Melissa Johns.
The cast is growing with the addition of Christie Russell-Brown, who will play Meg Grey. Her character is a university librarian and could become Alphy’s love interest.
Before joining the show, Grey shared with Masterpiece how warmly she was received. She said everyone has been incredibly welcoming, and it’s so touching it makes her want to cry! She feels like a true member of the ‘Grantchester’ cast and crew.
After the news in June 2024 that a tenth season was approved, Masterpiece’s executive producer, Susanne Simpson, expressed her delight in renewing Grantchester.
This series is incredibly popular with viewers, and we’re excited to bring it back with Robson Green and Rishi Nair returning to investigate more crimes. Filming for the eleventh and final season began in July. US audiences can expect the new episodes on PBS Masterpiece sometime in 2026, while viewers in the UK will probably have to wait a bit longer.
Grantchester season 10 will premiere on Wednesday 7th January at 9pm on ITV1.
