Several Disney animated series, including Gravity Falls, The Owl House, and Amphibia, have become increasingly popular since they first aired. These shows were unique and stood out from typical animated content. Although each has already concluded its run, they continue to attract attention. Recently, Alex Hirsch, creator of Gravity Falls, announced he’s teaming up with another animator for a new series that promises to be even more intense than his previous work and the other two shows combined.
Animator Matt Braly revealed earlier this year that he’s crowdfunding a new animated project called Clara & The Below. It’s a darker take on the classic story of “The Nutcracker,” and Braly has cast Alex Hirsch—known for voicing characters in Gravity Falls like Grunkle Stan and Bill Cipher—as Chompers, a uniquely twisted version of a Nutcracker doll and a friend to the main character, Clara. This shows Hirsch’s range as a voice actor.
AND WHO IS CHOMPERS YOU ASK?? Only this beautiful man @_AlexHirsch

What is Clara & The Below?

The animated series Clara & The Below quickly exceeded expectations on Kickstarter. Originally hoping to raise $25,000, the campaign reached its goal in just fifteen minutes and has since earned nearly $250,000. Due to this incredible support, more episodes are planned, and the creator, Braly, has announced that Alex Hirsch and voice actress Anna Akana will be joining the project.
Happy Friday! We’re excited to announce the voice actors for our two main characters! Anna Akana, known for her role as Sasha Waybright in “Amphibia,” will be voicing Clara, and Alex Hirsch will be voicing Chompers. We’re thrilled to be working with Anna again, as her character was a huge hit with fans. Plus, Alex has been a wonderful mentor to me throughout my career, so having him on board is especially great!
Let’s talk about Clara & The Below. If you’re not familiar, the story centers on Clara, who must battle the ghosts of soldiers her father fought while he was in the military. She ventures into a strange world beneath her house – known as The Below – to save him. A playful toy nutcracker helps guide her, representing her lost innocence as she navigates this haunted place. Based on what fans have seen, the series looks promising, though it may take a while before the first episode is released.
