Great British Baking Show Reveals 2025 Winner

It was a sweet victory for Jasmine.

On November 7th, a medical student was named the winner of season 16 of The Great British Baking Show in the finale.

The last episode of the Channel 4 baking competition, which became available on Netflix as part of collection 13 on November 7th, featured Jasmine, Tom, and Aaron competing in three challenges: baking classic iced finger buns for the Signature challenge, French Delights for the Technical challenge, and creating the largest cake ever seen on The Great British Baking Show for the Showstopper challenge.

Jasmine faced some criticism during the competition, with judges Paul Hollywood and Prue Leith initially finding her buns a bit flat. However, she quickly impressed them with her spectacular cake: a cardamom sponge filled with raspberry, almond, lemon mascarpone, and vanilla Swiss meringue buttercream.

Despite a tight race with Aaron and Tom, the 23-year-old ultimately won.

Honestly, I was absolutely thrilled when Jasmine shared her win with me! She explained how challenging it was juggling exams and baking, all while trying to learn new things. It was a lot on her plate, but she persevered, and you could just feel her joy! She was so happy to have accomplished it all with such a supportive group of people, which made the whole experience even more special.

Paul and Prue weren’t surprised by Jasmine’s victory, as she’d earned the title of Star Baker a record-tying five times this season.

Paul Hollywood said that no one has ever won five Star Baker awards and then gone on to win the entire competition. He praised her performance throughout this year’s Bake Off, calling her a deserving and exceptional winner – the best they’ve seen in a long time.

With Prue adding, “She is an extraordinary girl.”

Jasmine’s victory meant more than just demonstrating her culinary skills; it proved she could prioritize her own well-being, something she hadn’t thought possible while dealing with alopecia.

Jasmine shared that if someone had told her three years ago she’d be living life without a wig and with no hair, she wouldn’t have believed it. She told Channel 4, ‘It would have seemed ridiculous!’ She also said she never dreamed she’d be on The Great British Baking Show, especially not while bald.

She admitted that living with alopecia hasn’t always been easy, but she’s learning to embrace it. She’s increasingly finding joy in her unique appearance and realizing that true beauty comes from being yourself, rather than trying to fit in. Alopecia is shifting how she views beauty, showing her that authenticity is far more beautiful than conformity.
