Initially released into early access on July 29, Grounded has already provided plenty of reasons for excitement within just a few initial days.
In spite of its initial limitations as a first early access version and its brief period in circulation, Grounded 2 has outperformed the original game in terms of Steam statistics.
According to Eurogamer, the number of players simultaneously engaging with Grounded over the past 24 hours has reached new heights, surpassing its previous record-breaking peaks. Moreover, this current figure also exceeds the all-time peak since its early access launch.
Right now, the highest point in a 24-hour period, as reported by SteamDB, for Grounded 2 stands at 44,540. This is higher than its all-time peak of 49,836. To put this into perspective, Grounded’s all-time peak was 32,012. So, the increase isn’t just a small boost; it’s quite substantial. And remember, Grounded 2 is still in its early stages, having been released just four days ago.
In a recent post on their platform, the Vice President of Game Marketing at Xbox, Aaron Greenberg, praised the outstanding sales performance of Grounded 2.
It’s fantastic to observe that Grounded 2’s sales figures align well with a top-selling title, which is truly encouraging. Remarkably, the original game gained popularity unexpectedly and became a success story. Given these indications, it seems the sequel is poised for positivity.
As an avid fan, I’m excited about the potential for Grounded 2, but I understand that we still have quite a journey ahead. The initial Early Access release only scratches the surface of what’s to come. Despite its current state being relatively small, it’s already garnering some impressive accolades.
The forthcoming roadmap for Grounded 2 offers an abundance of fresh weapons, armor, bosses, and various other features. Notably, Obsidian plans to make Grounded 2 Steam Deck Verified as part of the Winter Update, which also includes the ROG Ally optimization. This suggests that optimizations for handheld devices are a top priority in the development process.
As the Xbox ROG Ally is set to arrive later this year, it appears that Grounded 2 is gearing up for compatibility with it.
The number of players using Steam is just one measure, yet it’s visible in real-time for all to see. It’s also accessible on both Xbox Game Pass (for console) and PC Game Pass, but we can’t monitor those statistics. Still, considering the potential popularity, it seems plausible that similar success could be achieved.
