Okay, so everyone’s hyped for GTA 6 and the World Cup, right? But I just noticed something kinda crazy – they’re actually connected! It’s wild how these two huge events are happening around the same time, and I didn’t even realize it until now.
Fans watching the first games of the 2026 FIFA World Cup on June 11th spotted something interesting: a pause in the game that looked remarkably like a loading screen from the Grand Theft Auto video game series.
Grand Theft Auto 6 is constantly making headlines. Recently, there’s been a lot of discussion about how large the game files might be, and people are still eagerly anticipating the release of a third trailer. Plus, Take-Two Interactive’s CEO, Strauss Zelnick, has been frequently giving interviews, adding to the ongoing buzz.
So, what’s the deal with Grand Theft Auto and the World Cup? Fans have been quick to notice the familiar taxi music from GTA being played during the players’ water breaks. This has naturally sparked a lot of discussion and speculation among GTA enthusiasts about a possible connection.

That catchy song you hear in the GTA 5 taxis is called “El Sondito.” It’s performed by a Mexican band called Hechizeros Band and originally came out in 2009.
You might recognize this song – it was played during water breaks at the World Cup! While it’s likely just a popular tune in Mexico, one of the host countries, GTA 6 fans are already speculating if there’s a hidden connection.
Okay, so everyone’s losing it on Reddit right now, trying to figure out if Rockstar Games had something to do with that song at the World Cup. People are thinking maybe it’s a hint that we’ll finally get a GTA 6 trailer, or at least something about the game, during the tournament. It’s got everyone hyped and speculating!

As a huge soccer fan, I always notice how much advertising there is during the World Cup – and it totally makes sense! Everyone around the world is watching the same event at the same time, so it’s the perfect chance for companies to get their products seen by millions of people.
Honestly, I think it’s probably just a coincidence. Someone picked the song, but I doubt Rockstar had anything to do with it. It feels like someone might be messing with us, trying to get a reaction, or maybe they just happened to choose the same song without realizing everyone would freak out online.
That said, if GTA 6 does get promoted during the World Cup, we’ll be sure to let you know!
