Hailee Steinfeld Details Lesson Her, Josh Allen’s Baby Has Taught Her

Motherhood is already feeling pitch perfect. 

Since Hailee Steinfeld and Josh Allen welcomed their daughter in April, the actress is sharing the important life lessons she’s already learned from being a parent.

In her Beau Society newsletter, Emma Stone answered a fan question about life lessons, sharing that one of the most surprising things she’s learned from her daughter is the value of showing yourself unconditional love – and being a role model for that self-acceptance.

The first few months after having a baby are often difficult, both physically and emotionally, but the 29-year-old feels prepared to handle whatever comes her way.

Steinfeld explained in a recent post that she’s still figuring out what being a mother means day-to-day. However, especially while raising her daughter, she’s come to understand a powerful truth: her daughter will develop her own self-image based on how Steinfeld views herself. It’s a direct connection.

Otherwise, the actress is prioritizing her family. She shared that her phone wallpaper currently cycles through three cherished photos: Allen kissing her cheek while she hugs him, a picture from their wedding, and a recent photo of their growing family of three.

Steinfeld has often spoken about her experience after giving birth. She recently explained how she’s been doing to stay healthy and recover.

In May, actress Stephanie Steinfeld shared with her online community that her doula gave her valuable advice about eating after giving birth. The doula recommended focusing on warm foods to aid digestion and help the body absorb nutrients, based on principles from Ayurvedic medicine.

She shared a picture of the delicious albóndigas soup her mom recently made for her, saying, ‘It’s beautiful to look at and even better to eat – one of those special soups!’

Between caring for her baby—changing diapers and fitting in naps—Hailee Steinfeld has been prioritizing her mental well-being by relaxing with a good book, and she’s found Heng Ou‘s postpartum cookbook, The First 40 Days, particularly helpful.

She said every word of the piece felt deeply true. She was particularly struck by how it described the vulnerability mothers feel even weeks after giving birth – while everyone understands a newborn needs care, they often forget to extend that same compassion to the mother herself.

She explained that she’s still adjusting and needs to prioritize self-care in all aspects of her life – her physical health, mental wellbeing, diet, and spiritual practices. She wants to be kind and patient with herself during this time.

Included in that same post, the “Starving” singer squeezed in for a photo with Josh’s family. 

Reporter Kay Adams nicknamed him “Mr. Hard Launch” during her show, Up & Adams, and he shyly responded with “we love love” when she questioned him about his romance with Hailee.

Hailee and Josh announced their engagement on Instagram on November 29, 2024, with a photo of Josh proposing and Hailee accepting with a kiss. They revealed they got engaged on November 22, 2024.

 

Josh and Hailee quickly became a public couple, appearing together on the red carpet at the NFL Honors just months after getting engaged. While accepting his MVP award, Josh sweetly acknowledged Hailee in his speech.

He told her she was his biggest support and closest friend, and that he wouldn’t be where he was today without her.

The couple exchanged vows in a beautiful California wedding. The bride wore a strapless gown with elegant elbow-length gloves.
