A popular online role-playing game (MMORPG) usually priced at $40 is currently available to download and keep for free on Steam. This deal lasts about 72 hours and ends June 15th at 1:00 pm Eastern Time. Both PC and Steam Deck owners can claim the game – though Valve says it’s only “Playable” on the Steam Deck, not officially verified, so performance may vary.
From now until June 15th, PC and Steam Deck players can download Wild Terra 2: New Lands for free! This is a follow-up to the 2017 game Wild Terra Online. While it has a ‘Mixed’ rating on Steam based on over 1,300 reviews (with about 62% of players enjoying it), it’s usually a $40 purchase. The trailer shows that this MMORPG draws inspiration from classic games like Ultima Online and RuneScape, offering a more old-school experience.
Medieval MMORPG
Wild Terra 2 is a complex online game, like many others of its kind. Essentially, you create a character and choose a profession – such as builder, fisher, doctor, sailor, farmer, or blacksmith – in a vibrant medieval world where players shape the experience. From there, your adventure will be uniquely your own.
Players generally like the game’s unique style and interesting concept, and they’re happy it doesn’t pressure you to spend money to succeed. However, some find the gameplay repetitive and feel it doesn’t offer enough content, even when compared to other free games in the same category.
One player said they enjoyed the game, especially if you’re into crafting and don’t mind repetitive tasks. However, another reviewer found it just okay, noting a lack of meaningful progress. They quickly realized the game mostly involved endlessly repeating the same map, and they also experienced a negative community on multiple servers.
If you see this game in your collection but don’t recall buying it for $40, it’s likely because you claimed it during a previous free giveaway. If this particular offer isn’t interesting to you, don’t worry – there are other free games available right now!
