Fans have something to be excited about with the upcoming third animated movie! Hailee Steinfeld revealed she says Miles’ name so much in the films that the production team likely has a collection of recordings of just her saying it.
Shameik Moore, who voices Miles Morales, hinted at Gwen Stacy’s feelings for Miles in the upcoming Spider-Verse sequel. In a recent interview, Moore joked that Hailee Steinfeld, who voices Gwen, recorded the name “Miles” in countless ways and tones. He suspects the filmmakers have a huge collection of takes, encouraging fans to listen closely and count all the times she says it when the movie is released.
The connection between Gwen and Miles is clear in the *Spider-Verse* movies. While Gwen hasn’t directly said she has feelings for Miles, her actions show a lot. A key moment in *Across the Spider-Verse* really highlights this – Miles becomes someone Gwen trusts and opens up to. There’s a lot to suggest they like each other, but their complicated histories make things difficult. Both have changed events that were supposed to happen, and they haven’t yet faced the repercussions of those changes.
Hailee Steinfeld Addresses Fears over Beyond the Spider-Verse’s Ending
A moment in *Across the Spider-Verse* suggested Gwen keeps her distance from Miles because she’s noticed a pattern: in every universe, her alternate versions fall in love with Spider-Man. This is true in her own world, where she has a history with Peter Parker. Despite this, fans are still hoping Miles and Gwen will end up together, and Hailee Steinfeld, who voices Gwen, suggests there’s still a chance. She explained that the story isn’t set in stone and changes throughout production, which makes working on the film exciting.
Steinfeld’s experience with the latest film mirrored her work on the previous two: she received the script in sections rather than all at once. As she explained in 2023, she never saw a complete script beforehand. Seeing the finished film, *Across the Spider-Verse*, felt like experiencing the story for the first time. She’s always been fond of her character, but she feels even more connected to her after learning more about her backstory in this installment.
The actor also explained one of the reasons *Across the Spider-Verse* faced delays. She said she didn’t realize how long animated movies take to make, and coordinating schedules with other actors to film scenes together proved challenging. When asked about the progress of *Beyond the Spider-Verse*, she confirmed they’ve started working on it, saying, “We’re into it.”
Spider-Man: Beyond the Spider-Verse hits theaters on Jun. 18, 2027.
