Halo: Combat Evolved is receiving a lot of pre-orders on the PlayStation Store in various countries. This isn’t surprising, considering how popular the Halo series has been, and the fact that this is the first time players will be able to experience Master Chief on a PlayStation console.
Looking at pre-order numbers, the standard version of the game is currently the most popular on the UK PlayStation Store, with the premium edition ranking within the top five. In the US, things are different – the premium edition is seventh in pre-orders, but the standard version hasn’t yet broken into the top ten. This difference could be because the premium edition offers early access to the game’s campaign starting July 23rd.
France and Germany have shown different preferences for the game: France is particularly enthusiastic about the Premium Edition, while Germany has largely favored the standard version. Given this pre-release success, we’re wondering if these positive results might encourage The Coalition to reconsider prioritizing PlayStation for the upcoming prequel to the Gears of War series.
It looks like Halo: Campaign Evolved is a good example of how to handle releasing a game on specific platforms. We’ll find out how successful this approach is when the game comes out on July 28th for PS5, Xbox Series X/S, and PC.
