A recent rumor suggests Xbox might unexpectedly release Halo: Combat Evolved sometime this summer. After announcing the remake of the original Halo last year, Xbox and developer Halo Studios have been quiet about the game’s progress. While they’ve stated it’s still planned for a 2026 release, they haven’t given fans a more specific timeframe. This new theory proposes the lack of updates could be because Xbox is planning a surprise launch.
Xbox is partnering with Fanta to offer special in-game rewards in several of its popular titles. Starting in April, customers who scan Fanta packaging will be able to unlock rewards in games like World of Warcraft, Call of Duty: Warzone, Call of Duty: Black Ops 7, and Diablo IV. When Halo: Campaign Evolved and Forza Horizon 6 launch, players will also be able to earn rewards. Notably, Halo players can get a unique orange and yellow skin for Master Chief inspired by the look of a Fanta can.
A Reddit user pointed out that past Xbox promotions with food and drink brands typically last two to three months. This suggests that Halo: Campaign Evolved needs to launch within that timeframe for players to enjoy the benefits of the current Fanta collaboration. Releasing the game alongside the upcoming Xbox Games Showcase on June 7th would make the most sense. This strategy aligns with Xbox’s history of surprise game releases and would definitely create a lot of excitement around the showcase.
This Release for Halo: Campaign Evolved Would Make a Lot of Sense
It seems likely that Halo: Campaign Evolved could be released in June. Xbox doesn’t have many major games scheduled for release this summer. While titles like Fable and Gears of War: E-Day are planned for later in the year, and Forza Horizon 6 came out in May, there’s a long gap in their release schedule. Releasing Halo: Campaign Evolved now would be a smart move and help maintain Xbox’s current positive momentum.
It’s important to remember that this is currently just a possibility, and there’s no guarantee Halo: Combat Evolved will be released in June or even this summer. However, when it does become available, players will be able to enjoy it on Xbox Series X/S, PC, and, for the first time, PlayStation 5.
