Halo: Fireteam Noble Announced for 2027 for Halo: Reach Fans

Xbox revealed that a new Halo game, Halo: Fireteam Noble, is planned for release in 2027. While Halo: Combat Evolved is coming soon, the future of the Halo series beyond that remains unclear. The team at Halo Studios (previously 343 Industries) is developing the next major Halo game, but it’s expected to be a long way off. There’s also talk of remakes for Halo 2 and Halo 3 after Combat Evolved, though these are currently unconfirmed. With all of this in mind, 2027 seemed like it might be a quiet year for Halo fans, but the announcement of Fireteam Noble offers a bit of good news.

Xbox and Halo Studios recently revealed a new Halo novel called Halo: Fireteam Noble. This continues the tradition of Halo books that have been published since the series began. The novel is being written by Troy Denning, a New York Times bestselling author who’s very familiar with the Halo universe. He’s previously penned several Halo novels including Outcasts, Divine Wind, Shadows of Reach, Oblivion, Silent Storm, Retribution, and Last Light. Denning is also known for his work on Star Wars.

About Halo: Fireteam Noble

The story is set in 2560, after the galaxy has been shattered by Cortana’s actions and the threat of the Created. At the same time, the Banished are continuing their conquest, taking over what’s left of Covenant territory and growing stronger.

I’m playing as Jun-A266, a Spartan you might remember from a couple of Halo games, especially Halo: Reach. He’s the only one left from Noble Team, and now he’s trying to build a new squad of Spartans at this secret base called Anvil Station. It’s cool getting to see what he’s been up to, but honestly, it’s also a bit sad – he’s clearly still haunted by everything that happened back then.

When a famous scientist specializing in alien life is kidnapped by the Banished, June and his team are quickly reassigned to a dangerous rescue mission. They’ll have to team up with familiar faces and new allies, venturing far into enemy territory. But saving this scientist is about more than just one person – the stakes are much higher than they seem.

The Halo franchise is currently facing challenges. While 343 Industries hasn’t been able to match the success of Bungie’s earlier games, Halo Infinite didn’t quite take off – not because it was a poor game, but because it lost momentum quickly. Given this situation, some question whether releasing additional content like TV shows is the right move while the main games aren’t fully back on track. It might not be, but if the new media is high quality, Halo fans will likely welcome it.
