Wow, Angels in America really stuck with me. It followed the stories of six people whose lives were completely turned upside down by their sexuality and the AIDS crisis. What made it so unique, though, was that even with all the darkness, it had this amazing, surreal element – angels and ghosts would appear to the characters, sometimes as if they were just in their heads. It was a really powerful way to show how they were coping with such a difficult reality.
The show received widespread praise and won every award it was nominated for at the 56th Primetime Emmy Awards. It’s one of just three shows to ever achieve this feat, alongside Schitt’s Creek and The Crown.
A Knight Of The Seven Kingdoms Is A Grounded Fantasy Comedy
The third Game of Thrones project takes place in Westeros and includes the Targaryen family, though the story isn’t primarily about the great Houses of the realm.
Unlike other stories in the series, A Knight of the Seven Kingdoms centers around Ser Duncan the Tall, a wandering knight, and his young squire, Egg, who holds a secret. This installment offers a more cheerful look at Westeros, focusing on the lives of common people instead of the usual kings and queens.
While fantastical things aren’t the main focus – you won’t see many dragons or obvious displays of divine intervention – there’s still a sense of old, powerful magic woven into the world of Westeros.
