HBO Max Finally Adds One Of The Best Movies of 2025

A highly-rated new movie from 2025 is now available on HBO Max, alongside other popular releases like Companion and A Minecraft Movie. HBO Max is always adding new content, so there’s always something fresh to watch. If you’re an HBO Max subscriber looking for a great movie, don’t miss this year’s biggest hit!

Zach Cregger’s new horror movie, Weapons, became available on HBO Max on October 24th. The film, which generated a lot of buzz earlier this year, originally premiered in theaters in August. It follows the strange disappearance of seventeen children from the same class, all at the same time—2:17 a.m. one night. The movie stars Josh Brolin, Julia Garner, Alden Ehrenreich, Austin Abrams, Cary Christopher, Benedict Wong, and Amy Madigan, and will also air on the HBO channel on October 25th.

Weapons Cements Zach Cregger as a Modern Master of Horror

Zach Cregger quickly made a name for himself in horror with his first film, Barbarian, a unique and unsettling story that showed his potential. He followed that up with Weapons, which further proved his talent. Like Barbarian, Weapons uses a non-traditional structure, shifting viewpoints and building intense suspense. The movie consistently surprises the audience, keeping them guessing until the very end, and ultimately delivers not only a fantastic horror experience, but one of the year’s best films overall.

The movie Weapons was a big success, earning $267 million on a $38 million budget. Critics and audiences loved it, and it currently has high ratings on Rotten Tomatoes (93% from critics and 85% from audiences). It’s praised for its unique story, which mixes mystery, horror, and dark humor, building tension slowly and featuring excellent acting, especially a standout, energetic performance by Madigan as Aunt Gladys.

Other Horror Movies Now on HBO Max

HBO Max is a great choice for horror fans, offering a wide range of scary movies from all eras. This October, just in time for Halloween, they added even more titles to their already impressive collection. Now streaming are classics like Beetlejuice, The Exorcist (1973), and The Shining, alongside more recent hits like Hereditary, Pearl: The X-Traordinary Origin Story, and The Sixth Sense. They’ve also included movies from popular franchises like A Nightmare on Elm Street, Friday the 13th, and Halloween.
