HBO Max Just Added 2025’s Only $2 Billion Movie (But There’s a Catch)

I was shocked to learn that Disney doesn’t actually have the biggest animated movie of all time anymore! For a while, it was Frozen II and then Inside Out 2, but this summer, a Chinese film called Ne Zha 2 completely blew everyone away. It’s made over $2.2 billion worldwide – that’s incredible! It’s not just the top animated film now, it’s actually the fifth highest-grossing movie ever. And finally, after months of waiting, Ne Zha 2 is now available to stream here in the U.S., which is amazing!

Both Ne Zha and its sequel, Ne Zha 2, are now streaming on HBO Max in the US. Originally planned for Christmas Eve, the second movie arrived on the service a few days ahead of schedule – good news for fans, though there is a slight catch.

Currently, the only way to watch Ne Zha 2 on HBO Max is with the English dub, the version originally released by A24. While this is fine for many viewers, those hoping to watch the film in its original Chinese language won’t be able to, at least not yet.

HBO Max recently added both Ne Zha 2 and One Battle After Another, marking a great week for the streaming service. And they aren’t stopping there – HBO Max has plans to keep adding content through 2026.
