HBO Max and Cartoon Network haven’t always seen eye-to-eye lately, especially after HBO Max removed many popular animated shows and movies that originally boosted Cartoon Network’s success. Shows like Courage the Cowardly Dog, Ed, Edd n Eddy, Chowder, and Powerpuff Girls were taken off HBO Max, ending up on other streaming platforms or disappearing altogether. Now, another Cartoon Network favorite, Craig of the Creek, has also left HBO Max, making it harder to watch the whole series.
When the popular Cartoon Network show Craig of the Creek premiered in 2018, it quickly gained a dedicated fanbase, leading to the creation of the prequel film, Craig Before the Creek. Released in 2023, the movie tells the story of Craig’s early days before he discovered the creek. As of January 13th, the film is no longer available on HBO Max. The story follows Craig, a newcomer to town, as he embarks on a treasure hunt in the Creek, making friends and facing off against pirates who threaten to destroy it. But don’t worry, fans can still enjoy Craig’s adventures before he became known throughout the Creek!
Craig of The Creek’s Prequel Status

Good news! Even though the Craig of the Creek prequel movie was taken off HBO Max, you can still watch it. It’s currently streaming on Hulu, which also has all the episodes of the Craig of the Creek cartoon. You can also find it on DVD and Blu-ray. Interestingly, this happened just before the main Craig of the Creek series is set to reach a big anniversary!
The final episode of Craig of the Creek, titled “See You Tomorrow at the Creek,” aired in January 2025, bringing the show’s six-season run to a close. With nearly 180 episodes, the series ended on a hopeful note, leaving the future open for the characters and featuring appearances from many beloved supporting characters. Though a revival or spin-off isn’t currently planned, Craig of the Creek has cemented its place as a Cartoon Network classic, joining the ranks of shows like Adventure Time and Regular Show.
Recently, content removed from HBO Max has often found success on other streaming platforms. A prime example is the Looney Tunes franchise. After Max lost the rights to Bugs Bunny, Daffy Duck, and the rest of the gang, they became incredibly popular on Tubi. In fact, the Looney Tunes are now among Tubi’s most-watched animated shows, demonstrating that even older franchises can attract large audiences.
