Luckily, the Princess is rescued by the daring space pilot Lone Starr and his loyal, half-man, half-dog sidekick, Barf, and their plan actually works!

Mel Brooks’s movie playfully spoofs popular space films from the past ten years, blending the most ridiculous elements into a consistently funny package, according to Cathy Burke of United Press International. Price, for example, felt the movie lacked substance, calling it a pointless repeat of the style Brooks used successfully in Blazing Saddles thirteen years prior. While we don’t share that view, everyone is entitled to their opinion.
