Limited Run Games announced that Bitmap Bureau’s action-packed He-Man and the Masters of the Universe: Dragon Pearl of Destruction will be available on PS5 starting April 28th. The game is known for its vibrant visuals and classic beat-’em-up gameplay.
We first tried this game about a year ago at Gamescom and were really impressed with its old-school style of action. We even said it quickly became one of the games we most wanted to play.
As a huge fan of old-school arcade games, I have to say this game nails that feeling! You can play it completely on your own, or grab a friend for some local co-op action. Honestly, it looks and plays just like one of those classic Capcom or Konami arcade cabinets – big, bold sprites and all!
Okay, so in this game you’ll be able to play as four characters to start: He-Man, Man-At-Arms, and Teela. You can unlock She-Ra later on, which is awesome! Each character has their own special moves and abilities, so it’ll keep things interesting and give you a reason to play through it again and again. Plus, there are 12 different levels, and you’ll be fighting classic villains like Skeletor and Trap Jaw – seriously, it’s packed with nostalgia!
Here’s how the press release sums up the story:
Okay, so I’m a huge He-Man fan, and the latest story is insane! Skeletor just found this unbelievably powerful artifact called the Dragon Pearl of Destruction, and teamed up with Evil-Lyn to try and cover Eternia in darkness forever! Seriously, it looks like it’s up to He-Man, Man-At-Arms, and Teela to save the day – thankfully, they’re the best!
With this release, and more classic collections like Marvel Maximum Collection planned, it looks like it’s going to be an amazing year for fans of old-school beat-’em-up games.
