Heartstopper Forever trailer teases heartbreaking choice for Nick and Charlie in final outing

Netflix has released the first trailer for ‘Heartstopper Forever,’ a special-length movie that wraps up the emotional love story of Charlie Spring (played by Joe Locke) and Nick Nelson (Kit Connor).

This show, based on Alice Oseman’s popular graphic novels, premiered in 2022 and immediately became a huge hit around the world, making its young actors instant stars.

The story centers on the developing relationship between Charlie and Nick, realistically portraying the challenges they face – from dealing with bullying and their own mental well-being to navigating coming out. It’s balanced by sweet and relatable moments like parties, school trips, and relaxing nights in.

The series also stars Corinna Brown as Tara, Kizzy Edgell as Darcy, William Gao as Tao, and Yasmin Finney as Elle. Viewers are particularly curious to see if these characters will end up together or go their separate ways.

Fans who want to get ahead can read the sixth and final book in the Heartstopper series two weeks before it’s adapted into Heartstopper Forever on Netflix. Both versions of the story are written by Alice Oseman and will follow the same plot.

Netflix just released the first trailer for the upcoming season of Heartstopper! You can watch it now, and be sure to save the date: it will be available on Friday, July 17, 2026.

The final movie in the series will feature a new actress: Anna Maxwell Martin (known from shows like Motherland and Star City) will play Nick’s mother, Sarah, taking over the role previously held by Oscar-winning actress Olivia Colman.

Sophie Colman starred in the show’s first two seasons but couldn’t return for the third because of other work commitments. Hayley Atwell, known for her roles in Mission: Impossible and Marvel films, joined the cast for season 3, playing Diane – the sister of Colman’s character and a stylish aunt to Nick.

As a huge fan of Heartstopper, I was really moved by the synopsis for the final season, ‘Forever’. It sounds like Nick and Charlie are facing some serious hurdles. With Nick getting ready for university and Charlie growing more independent, the distance is starting to put a strain on things. It seems like they’re both questioning things, and this season will really test their relationship – it’s going to be tough to watch, but I’m bracing myself for an emotional rollercoaster!

Their friends are experiencing the joys and difficulties of relationships and friendships too, dealing with the complicated feelings that come with getting older and starting new chapters. It makes you wonder – can those early romances truly stand the test of time?
