Heated Rivalry is back on skates.
The popular LGBTQ+ hockey series, Heated Rivalry, originated as a novel series by Rachel Reid and has quickly become a hit with viewers around the world. In the U.S., each episode averaged over 10 million viewers and consistently set new records for streaming. Originally launched on Canada’s Crave, HBO recognized the show’s potential and helped bring it to a wider, international audience.
I’m so excited! The creator of Heated Rivalry, Jacob Tierney, is releasing a behind-the-scenes book this October! People magazine just announced it’s called I’ll Believe in Anything, and it sounds amazing. He’s including the scripts from the first season with his notes, plus details about how they chose the actors, designed the costumes, and everything that went into making the show. I can’t wait to get my hands on it!
The book, created with Brendan Brad and Accent Aigu, will address questions fans have about the show’s relationships. It will explain how the show balanced the connection between Ilya Rozanov (Connor Storrie) and Shane Hollander (Hudson Williams) with that of Kip Grady (Robbie Graham-Kuntz) and Scott Hunter (Francois Arnaud).
Heated Rivalry‘s creator spoke about I’ll Believe in Anything and stated:
I’ve always thought making a TV show is a team effort. It’s a process where the story changes and improves with every discussion and new idea, from the first draft of the script to the final product.
This book is meant to be an invitation for fans of the show to get a behind-the-scenes look – not just at the finished product, but at the reasons behind our creative choices. I aimed to make it feel intimate and like a continuation of the story people already love.
Fans of Heated Rivalry have more to look forward to! Along with the announcement that season 2 will arrive in April 2027 – adapting the sixth book in the Game Changers series, The Long Game – comes the promise of continuing the story. The new season picks up right after the first, following Shane and Ilya as they try to balance their new relationship with a desire for privacy. But a dangerous event could throw everything into chaos.
