Heated Rivalry’s Connor Storrie Gives Heart-Racing Update on Season 2

It’s not too soon to start packing for the cottage.

With the popular series Heated Rivalry gaining attention on Crave and HBO Max, Connor Storrie has announced that a second season of the gay hockey drama is already in the works and progressing rapidly.

He mentioned in a January 14th interview with Craig Melvin on Today that filming is likely to start soon, though he didn’t specify a date.

The actor, age 25, mentioned that Jacob Tierny is still writing the new episodes, which will be based on Rachel Reid’s novel, The Long Game. He seemed to agree with a previous estimate that filming would likely begin around summer, saying, “Yeah, I think so.”

While details about season two are still being kept secret, fans of the show – which is based on the Game Changers books – will have something new to enjoy soon. Rachel recently announced she’s writing the next part of Ilya Rozanov and Shane Hollander’s love story in her upcoming novel, Unrivaled.

She shared with People that this new story is for both longtime and new fans of the Hollanov series. She expressed how much she appreciates the support her characters have received over the years, and how much fun it was to write them again, along with the rest of the Game Changers cast. The new installment is scheduled to be released this fall.

Once filming begins, Connor and Hudson Williams—along with François Arnaud, Robbie G.K., and others—will likely fall back into their roles as rivals who share a secret, passionate relationship away from the rink. They’ve already done a lot of preparation for their performances, building on the work they did for the first season.

Hudson, 24, told Zuri Hall on January 11th during Live from TopMob: Golden Globes 2026 that she and Connor immediately connected. However, they then had to work on building a connection between Shane and Ilya.

Because of this, the two creators focused on developing distinct personalities for each character, which Hudson pointed out are quite different from their own.

Working with my co-stars is always fascinating! Connor really wears his heart on his sleeve – he’s incredibly expressive. Ilya, though? He has this amazing, grounded energy, almost like a classic Slavic rock star. And Shane? He’s solid as a rock, a really dependable presence. It’s such a dynamic mix – we’ve got this expressive energy alongside someone so grounded, and then Shane brings this incredible stability to everything we do.

Okay, so Heated Rivalry season two feels like it’s taking forever, but while we’re all desperately waiting with me, I figured I’d share some other awesome new shows that have caught my eye! Seriously, we need to fill the time until it returns, and these might just do the trick!

It just gets into the real struggles families and friends are facing right now – the stress, the money problems, everything. It’s not just numbers, though; it’s the emotional toll, and it’s so raw and honest. I’m completely hooked, and I think everyone will be!
