There may be spoilers in the rest of the review
I first discovered Hellraiser when I learned about Kirsty, Larry, and Julia moving into Larry’s old family home. It quickly became clear there was a dark history there, as Larry’s brother, Frank, had been living there and messing with this incredibly strange puzzle box. And to make things even more complicated, Julia and Frank were actually having an affair before Frank disappeared – it’s a really twisted setup!
The family is now settled in their new house, but it’s become a target for demons. Meanwhile, Julia’s intense feelings for Frank lead her into a risky situation as she tries to reconnect with him, a journey that could have devastating consequences.
Verdict on Hellraiser
Recap
This film centers on a troubled family who relocate to a new house, but their hidden pasts awaken sinister forces seeking something they possess. One family member desperately tries to resurrect a lost love by connecting with strangers.
Best Parts
This horror movie is a masterpiece of practical effects and body horror, truly standing out for its incredibly terrifying and well-crafted visuals. Beyond the scares, it also tells a surprisingly deep and unsettling story that feels very personal and relatable.
Worst Parts
The graphic and disturbing imagery might overwhelm some viewers, overshadowing the film’s clever story and unique ideas, even if those elements are strong.
Final Thoughts –Hellraiser is one of the best body horror movies with a smarter story.
