Life at a retirement community is usually pretty predictable, but things get interesting when a baby monster—a ‘Kaiju’—shows up, especially one that might mean the end of the world! Add a group of former Hollywood stars to the equation, and you’ve got the surprising new series, Hidden Springs.
Dark Horse Comics’ new series, Hidden Springs, brings together a fantastic creative team – writer Rob Williams (known for Petrol Head and Judge Dredd), artist Nil Vendrell (Stranger Things: Tales from Hawkins, Shirtless Bear-Fighter!), colorist Berta Sastre, and letterer Simon Bowland (John Le Carre’s: The Circus–Losing Control, The Boys). The story follows a mismatched group of heroes who are trying to protect a baby Kaiju from the military. They quickly become attached to the cute creature, but they also have to get him to safety to prevent a global catastrophe.

Writer Rob Williams revealed the surprising group of celebrities dedicated to protecting a young Kaiju. He described the story, Hidden Springs, as a unique chase thriller where a collection of aging Hollywood stars, a director, a rock star, a comedian, and a possible former hitman must return the baby Kaiju to the ocean before the military captures them all.
The series is not only highly entertaining due to its central idea, but it also has a surprising amount of emotional depth. Williams explained that it’s a story about discovering inner strength and a reason to keep going, even when you feel like all hope is lost. He shared that he’s become very attached to the characters and thoroughly enjoyed the collaborative creative process with Nil Vendrell and the rest of the team.
The four-part comic series will have a main cover illustrated by Pallach, and a different version of the cover by Pye Parr, who has worked on titles like 2000 AD and Petrol Head. You can see both covers above. Here’s the official description of Hidden Springs below.
When a group of aging former Hollywood stars on a field trip stumble upon a baby monster—a ‘kaiju’—being chased by government agents, things get crazy. The unlikely group quickly forms a bond with the creature and must work together to protect it, before it accidentally brings about global disaster!
Hidden Springs #1 (of 4) will hit comic stores on May 13, 2026, and will retail for $4.99.
