Hideo Kojima Teases Physint’s Ambitious Ideas

Hideo Kojima is known for his creative vision, and his upcoming game, Physint, promises to be another ambitious project. Since leaving Konami in 2015 after working on Metal Gear Solid, he’s been exploring new types of games. His first independent title, Death Stranding, was a surprising shift – a game about delivering packages in a post-apocalyptic world. While unusual, it still featured Kojima’s unique storytelling and quirky characters. He continued to refine this approach with Death Stranding 2: On the Beach, which resonated with fans, including myself.

Kojima is shifting his focus away from Death Stranding and exploring new projects. His next game, a horror title called OD, will feature celebrity actors and unique episodes directed by well-known horror directors. While a release date is unknown, OD isn’t his only project. Kojima is also developing Physint, a game that will return him to the stealth-action gameplay he’s known for. Expected to be a PlayStation 6 title with a cast of famous actors, Physint is still in the very early stages of development, but Kojima has hinted at his grand vision for it.

Hideo Kojima’s Physint Will Be Made With Filmmakers

Hideo Kojima recently hinted at his next project, currently known as Physint, in an interview with Ananweb. He playfully suggested he could develop the game easily due to his familiarity with the genre, but emphasized he’s pushing himself creatively in other areas. According to a translation of the interview, Kojima plans to introduce innovative features and aims to blend cinematic storytelling with gameplay, potentially collaborating with filmmakers to achieve this.

Kojima stated that his next project will feature innovative elements and blur the boundaries between movies and video games. He’s planning to collaborate with filmmakers on both casting and crew, though he’s curious to see how that will work out. He also noted that society is changing so rapidly that the themes he explores in his games might soon become real-world issues.

A really exciting part of Physint is that it’s being developed with Columbia Pictures, which is owned by Sony. This strongly hints that the game will feature a large-scale, live-action element. It’s still early days, but it looks like Hideo Kojima has a lot of creative freedom and funding to make this game truly unique.
