It’s safe to say that Wildlight Entertainment’s Highguard quickly disappeared from attention before anyone really knew about it. However, over a month after a somewhat controversial first look at The Game Awards, the PvP raid shooter is back to announce its launch date: January 26th. They’ve shared a dedicated showcase to reveal more.
The developer will be giving a detailed look at the game’s gameplay and their plans for the first year, starting at 10 AM Pacific Time. Initial reactions have been mixed, ranging from excited relief (“Finally, something!”) to humorous skepticism (“Ya’ll remembered the password”), but overall aren’t bad.
Highguard will be available to play for free on Xbox Series X/S, PlayStation 5, and PC when it launches. In the game, you’ll play as Wardens, characters who use both magic and firearms, and battle to obtain the Shieldbreaker. Once you have it, you can use it to attack enemy bases by summoning a powerful siege engine for a major offensive.
Beyond the horses, wall-running, and special skills, the game has even more depth. Recent PlayStation 5 trophy information reveals you can demolish enemy bases with the Anchor Stone, buy goods from vendors, and find powerful Legendary items – you can have three equipped at once.
Given the success of games like Apex Legends and Titanfall, the question is whether Highguard can break through and become popular in the already competitive world of multiplayer games. We’ll know for sure soon.
Join us on Monday, January 26th at 10am Pacific Time for the Highguard Launch Showcase! We’ll be giving you a detailed look at the game, straight from the developers, including a full gameplay demonstration and our plans for the first year after launch. ➡️
