Team Cherry is releasing an upgraded version of Hollow Knight for the Nintendo Switch 2. Announced during the recent Nintendo Direct, this new edition will take advantage of the Switch 2’s better hardware to offer improved performance and graphics. And good news for fans – Hollow Knight Nintendo Switch 2 Edition is available to download from the Nintendo eShop starting today!
Similar to the planned update for Hollow Knight: Silksong on the Switch, owners of the original Hollow Knight game on Switch will receive the upgrade at no cost.
Released in 2017 (and on Nintendo Switch in 2018), Hollow Knight is a game inspired by both metroidvania and soulslike styles. It emphasizes exploring a large world and experiencing a story that doesn’t follow a single, set path.
In this game, you play as the Knight, exploring the ruined kingdom of Hallownest to uncover the secrets of their past. It’s been highly praised by critics and has also been a commercial hit.
The popular game Hollow Knight later received a highly praised sequel called Hollow Knight: Silksong. By December, over 7 million copies of the sequel had been sold.
