I was so excited to finally see NCSoft’s Horizon Steel Frontiers revealed last week! It’s coming to mobile and PC through their PURPLE launcher, which is awesome. But honestly, I was a little surprised—and confused—to hear it won’t be on the PS5. A Horizon game not launching on a PlayStation console just feels…off, you know?
Lee Song, the game’s executive producer, told 4Gamer (as translated by Eurogamer) that there’s no technical reason preventing a PS5 release. However, the final decision isn’t with NCSoft themselves.
We’re interested in moving forward, but we need to discuss it with others first.
I was reading an interview with Song over at Game.Watch, and they said a PS5 version of the MMO is technically possible! It’s not a definite yes yet – they’re still talking about it. But they hinted that if enough people show they want it, they might actually bring it to PlayStation 5. Fingers crossed!
The online multiplayer game, Horizon Steel Frontiers, is planned for release either at the end of 2026 or early 2027. Reports suggest that Guerrilla Games has been developing a separate Horizon multiplayer game since September 2024, and it’s believed to be their next major project. However, a new single-player Horizon game is likely still quite a ways off.
