House of the Dragon season 3’s fiery final trailer promises all-out war and betrayal

HBO has dropped the latest trailer for season 3 of House of the Dragon, giving fans their best glimpse yet at what’s coming in the next part of the Game of Thrones prequel.

With the last season ending with opposing groups about to fight, the latest preview indicates the upcoming season will be all-out war.

The new trailer is full of intense action, including dragons, political plots, and brutal battles. Rhaenyra Targaryen (played by Emma D’Arcy) is fighting for the Iron Throne, but her opponents are becoming more powerful.

Although war seems unavoidable now, Rhaenyra Targaryen still wants to limit the violence. In the trailer, she states, “We’ll secure the city without further bloodshed,” likely meaning she intends to take King’s Landing with as few casualties as possible.

Whether that ambition survives contact with the reality of civil war remains to be seen.

The trailer suggests growing tension between Rhaenyra and Alicent Hightower (Olivia Cooke), with Alicent questioning, “Didn’t I tell you this would happen?”

The start of Season 3 will likely feature the epic Battle of the Gullet, a large naval fight with ships from Corlys Velaryon, the Triarchy, and, of course, dragons.

The upcoming episode is being hailed as one of the most elaborate and visually stunning in ‘House of the Dragon’ history. Showrunner Ryan Condal even believes the season 3 premiere could be “the most ambitious episode of television ever created.”

Emma D’Arcy, who portrays Rhaenyra, has hinted that the new season will be fast-paced, telling Entertainment Weekly it “starts at 60 miles an hour.”

Honestly, I was starting to get a little impatient with season two – it felt like all setup and no payoff. But it looks like things are finally kicking off this time around! The trailer has me seriously excited because it hints that once the battle between Team Black and Team Green starts, it’s going to be a real, messy fight with lasting consequences for everyone involved.

Season 3 of House of the Dragon is coming to HBO Max in June. You can currently watch seasons 1 and 2 on Sky and NOW. If you’re interested in subscribing, you can find information on how to sign up for Sky TV.
