As a PlayStation 5 fan, I was checking out the new SSDs SanDisk just released, and honestly, the prices are pretty shocking! If you’re like me and want a ton of storage space – enough for more than just a couple of games like Call of Duty – the 8TB version is going to set you back a huge $2,960!
The Optimus GX Pro is a new line of fast solid-state drives. The 850p version works with both the standard PS5 and PS5 Pro consoles. It’s designed for easy installation, having been officially tested and approved, but it’s quite expensive.
Across the four versions of varying storage sizes, the prices of the new SSDs are:
- 1TB
- $379.99
- 2TB
- $759.99
- 4TB
- $1,499.99
- 8TB
- $2,959.99
Surprisingly, the company is promoting these prices as deals. Their website shows the original price of the 8TB version – $3,699.99 – crossed out.
The ongoing shortage of computer parts is definitely impacting costs. PCPartPicker reports that the price of some SSDs has increased by as much as 370% compared to what they cost less than a year ago, according to VGC.
As a gamer, it’s really frustrating to see prices going up on everything! Sony’s PS5 and the more powerful PS5 Pro are both costing more now, and it’s not just PlayStation – the Xbox Series X|S have also gotten more expensive. Even Nintendo is planning to raise the price of their new Switch 2, which is a bummer for everyone.
Okay, so I was looking for a PS5 SSD and didn’t want to spend a fortune. Luckily, I found a guide – you can check it out through the link! Seriously, you don’t need to drop three grand (or anything near that!) just to upgrade your storage.
