The second season of Daredevil: Born Again is coming to Disney+, and Marvel fans are excited to see the renewed conflict between Matt Murdock (Daredevil, played by Charlie Cox) and Wilson Fisk (The Kingpin, played by Vincent D’Onofrio). Now that Fisk has become the mayor of New York City, he’s quickly moved to crack down on masked vigilantes – essentially, superheroes – and is using the city’s resources, like the police and power grid, to enforce his strict control. However, Kingpin won’t be the only villain causing trouble in this new season.
Marvel Studios has been secretive about many details, but the second season of Daredevil: Born Again will feature new villains joining the Marvel Cinematic Universe, alongside returning characters like Matthew Lillard’s “Mr. Charles.” Among these villains, Wilson Bethel’s Dex, also known as Bullseye, is expected to be a major player.
I was really excited when Bullseye showed up in Season 3 of the original Daredevil – it was a seriously creepy but great introduction to the character. Honestly, I was disappointed when Born Again brought him back in Season 1. That opening fight was okay, but he didn’t really do much after that, just kind of popped up at the beginning and end to get the plot moving with Matt. But things are looking up for Season 2! It seems like Dex, as Bullseye, will finally get the character development and focus he deserves, similar to what we saw in Season 3 of the Netflix series, and I’m really hoping for a much better story arc this time around.
Daredevil: Born Again Showrunner & Producer Talk Bullseye’s Season 2 Arc

During a recent interview with ComicBook, Daredevil: Born Again showrunner Dario Scardapane and executive producer Sana Amanat discussed the character of Bullseye. They explained how his role in Season 2 will differ from his appearance in Season 1.
I never portray characters as simply ‘villains,’ and I don’t think I ever could,” Scardapane said. “Bullseye is a really complex character, especially considering his storyline in Season 3 of the Netflix series, the difficult deal he made with Vanessa Fisk in Season 1, and now we’re bringing him into our story.”
Amanat explained that the inspiration goes all the way back to Season 3 of the original series and how that character was handled. They were excited to recapture that same feeling and continue the character’s story, allowing it to grow and become more complex. They felt the character’s inner conflict was particularly interesting, and praised Wilson’s performance as exceptional.
Will Bullseye Be A Good Guy In Daredevil Born Again: Season 2?

Scardapane and Amanat hinted that Dex will see the irony in his situation within Fisk’s new power structure. Because he attempted to kill Vanessa Fisk, Kingpin will likely focus more intensely on capturing Bullseye than even Daredevil. Dex seems to believe that having a villain as an enemy somehow justifies his own actions, making him feel like the ‘good guy’.
Season 2 of Born Again might explore a surprising shift in the dynamic between Daredevil and Bullseye. Despite their long and violent history, Matt Murdock and Dex Poindexter could find themselves reluctantly working together. According to hints from a producer, this could happen because of Dex’s unusual way of seeing the world – the idea being that they might team up if they share a common enemy.
The show’s creator explained that the storyline revolves around the idea that the government is going after vigilantes, and Bullseye, identifying as a vigilante, therefore sees himself as a hero. This internal logic, the showrunner said, is both funny and unsettling. The series explores how Bullseye responds to being labeled a ‘wanted’ individual for being a vigilante, while simultaneously being pursued as a dangerous, psychopathic killer. The showrunner praised Wilson Bethel’s portrayal of Bullseye, calling it the best version of the character yet and highlighting Bethel’s willingness to embrace the role.
Bullseye has caused Daredevil immense suffering, even killing his close friend Foggy Nelson. It’s hard to imagine any partnership between them lasting, and it’s likely to end violently when it does.
We’ll find out when Daredevil Season 2 unfolds. New episodes stream on Tuesdays on Disney+.
