Kim Kardashian is keeping her friend’s memory alive.
After publicly sharing the sad news that her childhood friend, Lindsay May Palevsky, had passed away after fighting a rare cancer, the Kardashian family member recently opened up about how she’s been coping with the loss over the past year.
On November 3rd, Kim shared on Instagram, marking a year since a significant loss. She wrote that the world felt like it stopped on November 2nd, and that a piece of her and those who loved the person she lost went with them. She added that time feels different without them here.
She continued, “We all see you in purple skies and butterflies. I love you forever, my lifer.”
It absolutely broke my heart to see the photos she posted with the message. There were pictures of them together through the years – an old group shot, silly photobooth pics, even Lindsay beaming at Psalm’s second birthday party back in 2021! But the one that really destroyed me was the picture of Lindsay’s headstone. It’s so beautiful, with the sweetest words – ‘beloved wife, mother, daughter, sister, and friend’ – and people have been leaving painted rocks and gorgeous purple flowers around it. It’s just… everything.
As many of you know, back in June I shared the heartbreaking news of Lindsay’s passing. I was actually reposting a fundraiser in her memory when I found out. It’s been incredibly difficult, and I recently wrote a message about what would have been her 45th birthday. Honestly, I waited months to share anything because it was so hard to find the right words to express how much I’m missing her. It’s never easy losing someone you care about, especially as a mom to North, Saint, and Chicago.
Kim shared a heartfelt message on Instagram recently, marking what would have been Lindsay’s birthday. Knowing Lindsay preferred to keep birthdays low-key, Kim wrote, ‘Happy Heavenly Birthday, Lindz.’ The post included photos from a 2024 lake trip with Lindsay and their friends’ families. Kim also expressed how much they miss Lindsay, saying their group chat just isn’t the same without her.
Kim Kardashian continued by explaining that after Lindsay passed away, she returned to the lake with close friends who had also known Lindsay for a long time, and spent the time remembering and feeling Lindsay’s presence all around her.
The lake was a special place for you, a place where you felt at peace and yourself. It became a beloved family tradition, a time for all the kids to be together and for us to truly connect without distractions. This year, we deeply felt your absence in every beautiful sunset, every moment of laughter, and every quiet, peaceful moment.

She also detailed what it meant to have Lindsay her side for all these years.
Looking at old photos reminded me how thankful I am for all the fun we’ve had growing up together,” Kim said. “Things just aren’t the same without you, and that’s why I cherish our yearly trips to the lake. It’s a place that will always remind me of you, and that’s something I’ll always hold onto.
