How Lauren Conrad Wrote Her Love Story With Husband William Tell

Since first appearing on TV as a teenager in Laguna Beach and later on The Hills, Lauren Conrad has built a successful lifestyle brand, married musician William Tell, and become a mother to her two sons, Liam, 8, and Charlie, 6.

Even though it’s been almost 17 years since she left The Hills, she continues to embrace life. However, she’s no longer willing to share her personal life on television.

The 40-year-old recently told Kristin Cavallari on her podcast that she’s considering pausing her career after appearing in The Reunion: Laguna Beach, which will stream on The Roku Channel on April 10th. She said it would be a nice way to finish where she began, working with the same people she started her reality TV journey with.

And this ending feels very much planned.

When asked if this was her final reality TV appearance, Conrad told Cavallari she really hoped it was.

In 2022, Conrad returned to her roots, trading her life in Los Angeles for the comfort of her coastal hometown.

She explained to Kristin Cavallari that she feels fortunate to have avoided the common pitfalls of a long career in entertainment. Unlike many others, she doesn’t miss the glamorous parties or the attention, and she’s grateful for that.

Instead, she’s awoken new dreams.

After becoming known on the MTV shows Laguna and The Hills, Lauren Conrad built a successful brand. She quickly launched several businesses, including her LC Lauren Conrad line with Kohl’s, the Paper Crown clothing line, her lifestyle website, and the fair-trade shop The Little Market. Recently, she told People magazine that after years of working hard to achieve more, she finally feels content with where she is.

Now that she’s focusing all her energy on her Kohl’s collection and Little Co. children’s brand, she’s finally able to make time for personal things – like watching her kids play soccer and baseball on the same fields where she grew up playing sports.

She shared that she’s currently focused on enjoying life and maintaining a healthy balance between her work and personal life. With young children, she wants to cherish the time she has with them and fully be present in the moment.

Her life with Tell feels wonderfully complete. What started as a Valentine’s Day date turned into a lasting, loving relationship.

Okay, so Conrad is being really open about things, and it turns out this isn’t the first time she’s crossed paths with him! She just shared that she actually went to one of his concerts way back when she was sixteen. It’s funny how life works, isn’t it?

She recently told People magazine that she figured out how she and her husband had met – she simply searched for him on Google. She also admitted her first thought was that he was very attractive, playfully calling him a “smoke show.”

An emotionally intelligent one at that.

I recall early in our relationship, I playfully called him a name. He immediately told me he doesn’t believe in name-calling and wouldn’t ever do it himself, suggesting we avoid it altogether. It struck me as a very mature response – we were both acting like adults.

Speaking about her reality TV appearance, Conrad told Erin Lim Rhodes of TopMob News that she doesn’t believe her now-husband watched much of it. “He saw a few episodes,” she explained at the premiere of The Reunion: Laguna Beach on March 26th, “but he always says, ‘I already know you, so I don’t need to watch.'”

Conrad shared with People magazine that their relationship moved quickly. “We were both all in right from the start,” he said. “We fell in love fast and were engaged after just a year and a half of dating.”

She had a beautiful wedding by the coast, fitting for someone known for setting trends. In a 2022 podcast interview on Perelel Lives, she explained that she always wanted to have a family with her husband. While she used to be unsure about having children, she realized she simply hadn’t met the right person. She said, ‘I think I just hadn’t found a partner I was really excited about starting a family with.’

She always believed the USC law school graduate would make a wonderful father, and she was delighted when he did. They welcomed their son, Liam, in July 2017, and another son, Charlie, two years after that.

As a lifestyle expert, I’m always fascinated by what makes relationships work. And honestly, seeing how my partner connects with our kids is a huge part of what makes ours so strong. He’s the dad who fully gets into storytime with silly voices, and he’s always coaching the kids’ teams – it’s a joy to parent alongside him. It’s a far cry from my younger days, of course! But I’ve realized that open and honest communication is absolutely key to a successful marriage. It really is the foundation of everything.

Honestly, building a strong connection meant really learning how my partner and I communicated – and it wasn’t always easy at first! But putting in that effort has made our relationship so much fun and comfortable. Of course, there are always going to be challenges, but being able to sit down, calmly talk things through, and work through them together makes all the difference. I’ve definitely tried handling things the other way before, and trust me, it’s nowhere near as good!

Sometimes the earth, the sun, the star all align and perfect feels so perfect. The proof is in these sweet pics.
