Time to put this issue to bed once and for all.
Given the bustling activity in the Love Island USA villa during its seventh season, it’s natural to ponder about the frequency of bed sheet changes. Fortunately, some past Islanders from the previous season have shed light on this matter.
Kenny Rodriguez, who finished third alongside his current partner JaNa Craig during season six, shared with TopMob News in August 2024 that “Every day, the team would make adjustments. The team in Fiji was wonderful; they really made us feel comfortable and at home.
Meanwhile, Kordell Beckham concurred with his fellow Islanders’ evaluation, stating, “Each time we advance, as far as I could tell,” Kaylor Martin showed a more reserved perspective.
She expressed that their assertion of daily changes wasn’t true based on her personal experience. She admitted to wearing perfume before going to bed, and upon waking up, she could still smell the scent. Therefore, she was unsure about the frequency of the changes, but it seemed unusual to her.
Though, never fear, Kaylor added, “They were definitely changed. We don’t live in filth.”
It’s beneficial that this season’s Islanders – such as Chris Seeley and Huda Mustafa, along with former pair Cierra Ortega and Nic Vansteenberghe – have been making productive use of the available sleeping quarters.
However, despite the strong connection between Nic and Cierra that others in the villa could see, their time together came to a sudden end when, during the July 6 episode, Cierra was taken out of the Villa following the discovery of old social media posts containing a derogatory term. It’s important to note that TopMob News has not independently confirmed these posts.
After leaving the island, Zak Srakaew, who had just been dumped, offered some insights about the actual events that transpired on the Fijian island.
After Cierra departed, everyone was summoned – the producers themselves. They informed us, ‘I’m sorry to say, but Cierra has violated some of our rules and guidelines. As a result, she won’t be part of the villa anymore, and that’s all the details we can share with you.’
He also detailed how Nic—who has since recoupled with Olandria Carthen—was taking the news.
Zak, who had been with Amaya Espinal before her relationship shift to Bryan Arenales, admitted that Nic was deeply hurt by her departure. However, he clarified that, despite his feelings, he couldn’t fully express his emotions about the situation until he learned more about her actions or words.

85 hidden cameras capture a wealth of footage daily, which needs to be carefully edited down to fit into a one-hour television episode by the end of each day.
However, they follow a fast-paced rhythm, where the editors work on Monday’s footage at night to produce Tuesday’s episode, and this pattern continues.
Fortunately, Fiji, the location for the first season of the show and where it’s been since season five, is 16 hours ahead of Eastern Time Zone. This means that a late-night finish for the team translates to the morning of the previous day in the U.S., providing them with valuable additional hours to perfect the new episode.
In an interview with The Wrap in 2024, executive producer Claudine Parrish shared that the islanders’ mornings would trigger scenes for production. These scenes might be titled something like “Boys preparing breakfast for the girls,” and just 15 minutes later, these events would find their way into the editing room where they were swiftly transformed into a finished scene.
It requires a community effort: Parrish stated that approximately 30 editors and 20 producers work together, while the story team determines which key events and dialogues should be interwoven to create a more comprehensive narrative.
occasionally, Parrish conceded, what appears intriguing may not necessarily lead anywhere. “We’re not infallible,” she acknowledged. “We’re constantly evaluating whether something is significant or will be different tomorrow.
It’s clear that breakfast plays a significant role on this program, as the gentlemen responsible for cooking meals and coffee for the women have turned it into a globally intriguing spectacle, known as Love Island USA.
But what does everyone eat for lunch and dinner, you ask?
In this program, while the food itself may not be the main emphasis, it’s always there when needed, except for perhaps undercooked pancakes or that initial attempt at an omelette.
Dani Dyer, the winner of Love Island UK season four, shared with HELLO! in 2021 that there were no menus on set. Instead, it was catered, meaning they had to cook their own breakfasts. So, she explained, you’d find items like eggs, bacon, and toast.
In the eighth season, Luca Bish expressed ignorance about who was responsible for the cooking, stating on TikTok in July 2023 that it was a “mystery chef” working somewhere outside, and the meals were brought to the villa.
As an utterly dedicated enthusiast, let me confess that Bish doesn’t quite share my ardor for the culinary delights. Instead, he typically declares, “For both lunch and dinner, it’s usually hummus and crisps that I’m savoring.
Over time, various participants have disclosed that they dine apart (males and females), with a few exceptions when they go out together on dates.
In an interview with The Sun in 2022, Love Island UK season three alum Olivia Attwood compared her experience on the show to a boarding school. She explained that during dinners, it felt like the producers were giving them household chores, such as cleaning their rooms, scheduling laundry days, and asking about breakfast preferences, all of which helped keep the house running smoothly.
And much like being on a jury, they’re not allowed to discuss the case among themselves.
Samuel Agbiji shared in an interview with Closer in 2024 that season eight was particularly challenging due to the need for silence during meals as it interfered with the filming process.
It’s possible you could think that overindulging in drinks while being flirtatious isn’t explicitly disapproved of, but the rule is that each competitor can have just one alcoholic beverage per night, and it must be either beer, wine, or champagne.
In response to the option of either red or white wine during dinner, Phoebe Siegel from Love Island USA’s fourth season stated on TikTok in June 2024 that it wouldn’t be a “generous serving.
During celebrations like those following a Casa Amor challenge victory, where it seems there’s an open bar, Siegel mentioned that the drinks were actually diluted significantly with water.
Iain Stirling juggles two roles as he narrates not only Love Island UK but also Love Island USA. During production, he manages his time efficiently to keep up with the demanding schedules.
At 12 noon UK time, the Scottish comedian shared with TODAY in 2024 that he would usually sign in to Love Island UK. By this point, the show was almost over. After that, they’d work for about two to three hours. Finishing around 4:30 PM. Then he would prepare his child’s dinner, handle bath time and bedtime – a far cry from the rock ‘n’ roll lifestyle he desired. Following this, he’d have dinner, and then at half past 8 PM, which is quite early in Fiji time, he’d tune into Love Island USA.
At home, Stirling watches a preliminary edit of the video over Zoom. As Parrish, the executive producer, clarified to The Wrap, he and the writers are merely taking note of amusing elements within the scene or memories of past story events, which they then record from their own microphones at home.
In simpler terms, his account or story is included in the episode prior to it being submitted for review by Peacock’s legal and standards team, and occasionally there may be comments requiring last-minute adjustments.
In this scenario, Stirling mentioned they aim to wrap up between 12 or 1 AM, and he might stay awake until half past 3. However, it’s important to note that the show continues for the U.S. beyond that time. In an ideal world, Stirling expressed that he would love to keep going until 5 or 6 in the morning, but that would mean no sleep at all.
As a die-hard devotee, I’ve come to realize that this beloved franchise has the power to forge an eternal bond. Take my example: Iggy (that’s me), now hitched to the enchanting Laura Whitmore, former host of Love Island UK, in 2020. Our union was blessed with a precious daughter in March 2021. It just goes to show that the magic of this franchise transcends the confines of our screens and weaves itself into real life connections.
The music on “Love Island USA” – starting with Janelle Monae’s “Make Me Feel”, continuing with the theme song “From Fiji With Love” by The Daniel Pemberton TV Orchestra, and including various pop songs in between – creates a distinct atmosphere or feel.
In a June 2025 interview with Rolling Stone, executive producer James Barker of Love Island USA expressed his excitement upon first seeing Love Island UK. He felt it raised the bar for reality storytelling by skillfully integrating popular music and personal connections into the narrative. Barker was so impressed that he immediately thought, “This is fantastic! More shows should emulate this format.” And secondly, he began contemplating how he could become involved with Love Island.
As a dedicated follower, I understand the importance of having a ready-to-use collection of songs for any given moment. Unlike me who might choose a song spontaneously, a music clearance company works tirelessly months in advance to secure licenses for tracks from artists such as Chappell Roan, Sabrina Carpenter, Charli XCX, and Olivia Rodrigo well before they’re required.
As a dedicated music enthusiast, I constantly work on creating and preparing numerous tracks, ranging from hundreds to thousands. I never know where the narrative will unfold, so I keep these songs at the ready. For instance, one track might become an ideal choice for someone’s heartbreaking breakup moment, while another could be just perfect for that long-awaited first kiss.
Interestingly, the residents of the villa are unable to enjoy music due to complications related to copyright and also because loud music might interfere with the recording quality of the concealed cameras and audio equipment.
As a die-hard fan, I’ve got to admit that there are times when the rules of my favorite songs getting stuck in my head take a backseat. For instance, during intense challenges or a groovy slow-motion dance-off, or even when I hop into a cab for a romantic rendezvous and the driver’s got tunes playing.
To make sure the female cast members always appear well-groomed on camera, the production offers makeup and skincare products in the living quarters. They’re welcome to bring their own as well, but any recognizable brand labels on their personal items will be concealed during post-production editing.
For complex grooming tasks, there are experts available to help out. Every now and then, as Love Island UK season five alum Lucie Dolan explained to Capital FM in 2021, we would get our nails, hair, and other such maintenance done. Since the nights on the show can be extremely lengthy, with their true duration often unnoticed, it’s essential to have a day off to unwind and relax.
On their days off from work, when there’s no performance scheduled, as Whitmore shared with OK!, they often get their eyelash extensions and acrylic nail polish touched up.
In times past, I, an island dweller, would venture away from my home for certain events, but today, due to the nature of the production, the participants of the show can no longer be out in the untamed wilderness while filming.
As a devoted fan, I’ve noticed an interesting change from the initial season. Originally, they ventured out to get their hair styled at a salon, but given the grand scale of the show now, that’s no longer feasible. Instead, someone comes to them to touch up their roots right at the villa.
Producers say they’re perfectly content to ride the waves of romance.
In an interview with The Wrap in 2024, Love Island USA executive producer Ben Thursby-Palmer explained their approach. They adapt to the current situations in the villa as they unfold. If everyone is content within their couples, there’s no need for recoupling. On the other hand, if all participants are sleeping separately throughout the villa, it signals a need for change and reorganization.
In a YouTube video posted in April 2023, former contestant Samie Elishi from Love Island UK season nine stated that the show wasn’t scripted entirely. However, he explained that producers did prompt them to engage in conversations with their couples or individuals they had disagreements with, as such interactions were essential for the show to continue. While they were encouraged to have certain discussions, what was actually said during these conversations was left entirely up to the contestants themselves.
Communication devices like phones are provided to the islanders, enabling them to make calls and send messages, take pictures, and receive notifications about future events which can be verbally announced.
In an interview with The Sun back in 2019, Liana Isadora Van Riel from Love Island UK season two mentioned that the contestants are given simple phones for texting each other. However, she noted that these phones aren’t frequently used, but instead, they serve mainly to uphold the ‘I’ve got a text’ element of the show.
In another scenario, Love Island USA’s Siegel shared on TikTok that during the show, you’re unable to search online, watch television, use social media, or communicate with anyone outside the program.
In line with the longstanding practice among hosts of reality TV conflict mediators, Ariana Madix, host of Love Island USA, must feign indifference towards the developing situations under her supervision.
In 2024, when I shared with The Wrap my feelings, I admitted that at times, the desire within me surges to join the fray. However, as a dedicated host, I must maintain a sense of impartiality, even if it’s challenging, especially in their presence.
Meanwhile, during season six, Andrea Carmona was eliminated and Rob Rausch spontaneously declared he would also depart. However, Madix diplomatically suggested he rethink his decision, which ultimately led him to stay.
In simpler terms, Madix pointed out that it might not be wise to make significant decisions during intense emotional periods. Additionally, there was a sense within him of wanting to test whether the person truly intended to depart, as he wasn’t convinced they actually wanted to go.
Madix pointed out that no cameramen were visible to the islanders. Although cameras were positioned all over the villa with movable sliders on certain walls, there were cameramen concealed behind those walls. The islanders typically didn’t notice the cameramen, and there were no hidden spots within the house where conversations could be considered secret, as everything was under surveillance except for the obvious places like bathrooms or showers.
A secluded area without cameras: The kitchen pantry as mentioned by Elishi on Love Island UK, which she revealed in her April 2023 video, can only accommodate one person at a time due to past incidents involving couples inside.
Numerous participants on “Love Island UK” have mentioned that branded condoms for the show are located throughout the villa and can be restocked whenever needed.
Prior to these surprises arriving with the possibility of changing the current situation, they are permitted to view the program to refresh their memory about the events that have taken place thus far.
In a 2023 episode of her podcast titled “Chloe vs. The World”, Chloe Burrows, who made a surprise appearance on Love Island UK, shared that she doesn’t watch an episode until it is broadcast after she has already joined the show. Then, among the existing islanders, she reveals her top three favorites.
While the cameras never stop filming, the contestants do get one day off a week to just hang out.
In other words, this rule implies that discussions about others or arguments should be avoided during meal times, with disagreements being postponed until the following day. Additionally, because there are no assigned sleepovers on their days off, male and female individuals cannot sleep in the same bed at night.
Kem Cetinay, a contestant from Love Island UK’s third season, explained in 2017 to Britain’s This Morning that when microphones are removed, discussions about the show are off-limits. “You can all converse, but they are quite vigilant about the topics you discuss because they aim to preserve it for viewers at home to see and record,” he added, explaining that this time was a break from the intense games, dates, and relationship decisions in the villa.
