As a big Marvel fan, I’m really excited about Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man: Brand New Day, both coming out in 2026! It seems like these projects might be linked in a bigger way than we think. For a long time, fans like me have wanted to see Daredevil and Spider-Man team up more often, since their paths have only crossed when they’re not in costume. With both shows getting closer to release, some interesting theories are popping up that suggest a real connection between these two heroes, and I can’t wait to see if they’re true!
Okay, so Marvel’s being super tight-lipped about Born Again Season 2 and the next Spider-Man movie, but I’m picking up some interesting vibes. It seems like both projects are going to be really focused on the gritty side of New York City, with a lot of criminal activity. What’s got me excited is the possibility that these stories aren’t separate at all – they could actually connect! We might be looking at a full-blown mob war, and honestly, I’m crossing my fingers for the live-action team-up of Daredevil and Spider-Man we’ve all been waiting for. If that happens, it’ll be epic!
Daredevil: Born Again Sets Up Spider-Man: Brand New Day
Details about the plot of the new Spider-Man movie are still scarce, but Marvel’s announcements suggest a major gang war is brewing in New York City. The film will feature several prominent villains connected to the city’s criminal underworld, including Michael Mando as Mac Gargan/Scorpion and Krondon as Lonnie Lincoln/Tombstone, along with characters like Tarantula, Black Cat, and Mister Negative, who all have ties to different gangs. Instead of working together, these villains will likely be rivals battling each other for control.
As a huge Punisher fan, I’m getting really excited about what’s happening in the upcoming special! It sounds like things are heating up in New York City’s criminal underworld, and that’s exactly what draws Frank Castle out of the shadows. From what I’ve been hearing about the set of the new show, Brand New Day, a full-blown gang war seems almost guaranteed. And the really interesting thing is, it looks like the roots of this conflict might actually be in the new season of Daredevil: Born Again. It’s like everything is connecting, and I can’t wait to see The Punisher react to all the chaos!
The Born Again series is loosely based on a comic book storyline where Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin, becomes the mayor of New York City. Both the comics and the show depict Fisk’s mayoral actions disrupting the city’s criminal organizations and creating an opportunity for other villains to try and take over. This leads to a large-scale conflict—a ‘Gang War’—in the comics, with characters like Tombstone, Madame Masque, and Hammerhead fighting for control. These storylines could be used as inspiration for future seasons of Born Again and the Spider-Man: Brand New Day arc.
The conclusion of the “Devil’s Reign” storyline sets the stage for “Gang War” within the Marvel Universe, and the second season of Born Again could bring that same shift to the MCU. Like the comics, the new season appears to move the action away from New York City. However, as seen in “Gang War,” this would leave a power vacuum, with other criminals battling to become the new Kingpin. Even if Daredevil defeats his main enemy, it could create more trouble for Spider-Man, who would then have to deal with the resulting chaos.
Kingpin Doesn’t Need to Appear in Brand New Day
A key obstacle preventing a potential connection between the Daredevil: Born Again and Spider-Man: Brand New Day stories is Wilson Fisk, also known as Kingpin. Vincent D’Onofrio, who portrays Fisk in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, recently explained that legal issues are preventing his character from appearing in a movie. D’Onofrio stated this is why he won’t be in Brand New Day, even though fans have speculated he’d be the main villain.
Marvel and Sony have collaborated on incorporating characters into the MCU before, but the upcoming story arc doesn’t require the Kingpin to tell a “Gang War” tale linked to the Daredevil series. Interestingly, Kingpin’s absence is actually central to the original “Gang War” storyline. While he does appear near the end, it’s his leaving New York that creates the power struggle and leads to the conflict between rival gang leaders.
Okay, so with Wilson Fisk potentially leaving New York, it opens up a huge power vacuum in the criminal underworld. As a viewer, I’m really excited by the possibilities this creates! The comics are full of fantastic villains, and I’m hoping we’ll see some of them step up to fill Kingpin’s shoes. Specifically, I’d love to see characters like Tombstone and Mister Negative battling it out for control – it would make for a seriously compelling storyline, and the groundwork seems to be there with the recent developments. It’s a great way to expand the universe and keep things fresh!
Although it would be great to see Vincent D’Onofrio reprise his role as Wilson Fisk (Kingpin) alongside Spider-Man, his appearance isn’t essential for the “Gang War” storyline. Marvel can still adapt that plot, potentially building the conflict during the second season of Daredevil: Born Again. Even if Kingpin doesn’t appear in the next Spider-Man movie, other characters from Daredevil could make an appearance.
Will Daredevil Show Up in Spider-Man: Brand New Day?
Even though Kingpin won’t be in the new Spider-Man: Brand New Day movie, there’s a chance we could see a major crossover with the Daredevil: Born Again series. Fans have wanted Spider-Man and Daredevil to team up properly for a long time. In the comics, these two heroes—street-level vigilantes—work incredibly well together and have starred in many exciting stories. While Matt Murdock and Peter Parker appeared together in Spider-Man: No Way Home, their superhero personas, Daredevil and Spider-Man, haven’t actually fought alongside each other yet.
He previously made similar predictions about No Way Home. It would be a significant oversight for Marvel to feature the Punisher in the movie without also including Daredevil. While a Spider-Man and Punisher pairing would be entertaining, most fans would prefer to see Spider-Man team up with Daredevil. It’s probable that all three vigilantes will appear, particularly if the film’s plot revolves around a gang war in New York City.
Given Daredevil’s role as the protector of Hell’s Kitchen, it would feel wrong for him to stay out of a gang war. Fans already accepted Spider-Man’s absence in the Born Again storyline, but asking them to believe Daredevil would ignore a conflict on his city’s streets is a step too far. The Brand New Day story needs to show Daredevil actively involved, even if it’s just by working to stop the gang war.
If the current storyline connects directly to Spider-Man: Brand New Day, Spider-Man and Daredevil may finally team up – something fans have been hoping for a long time! This partnership could be the city’s last hope against an unprecedented wave of criminal activity.
Daredevil: Born Again Season 2 premieres on March 4, 2026, exclusively on Disney+.
Spider-Man: Brand New Day opens in theaters on July 31, 2026.
